itunes mixing up file structure

One question ( well sort of two but hopefully the same technique will work)

Using your TAGGING software you will have to TAG them so the Artist = Artist , Album = Compilation and Track Name = the individual track names.

However, if you use a cd ripping tool like the free AUDIOGRABBER you can put your CD in and press the FREEDB button which brings all the tags in off the net (hopefully) and Bobs your uncle.

That doesnt actually work for example I have a track thats listed as

Rod Stewart & Bryan Adams & Sting

This is a track from a Bryan Adams album and as such I want it listed under his albums however with the other two's info there

Even though the album tag is correct the track even edited is listed under a seperate artist as....

Bryan Adams & RS and Sting

rather than being included in the album as it should from the original Artist selection

Sorry its hard to explain I hope this is making sense

....edit

I have figured out how to do it if anyone is interested ........

What I had to do is basically only have Bryan Adams as the Artist and in the song title have featuring RS and Sting

A bit of a work around

Also with Soundtracks I found this

Call the Artist "Various", the Album name for eg "Top Gun" and then have all the track names saying "featuring ...."

Takes a lot of manual editing otherwise all the ten tracks on the cd are dotted around under different artist name rather than as one collection

did you mean Album / Artist sort name?

I had to hunt through id3-TagIT to even see the option as it wasnt seemingly coming up anywhere else

thanks - I cant edit that anywhere else, so I am wondering how it will affect it.

Will play around , thank you for letting Me know
