iTunes movie question

Guys, quick question for you.

I'm tempted to buy some films through iTunes for example, Iron Man.

However, what resolution are the films? I've got a 720p TV sitting less than 3ft from me, I'd like to make use of it

What do we think?

check teh bit rate ... downloads are normally less than dvd quality

They look nice, but they're a little shy of DVD quality. Going by I Am Legend and Fear & Loathing, anyway. They're the ones I've had from it.

Not really worth it to be honest. Whilst having them in your iTunes is handy and it does look good, the cost and quality compared to just getting the DVD is nowhere near worth it for me.

I wouldn't buy from them

DVD is 4.7 gig the movies you get from download sites are never that big less data means poorer picture generally.

I haven't bought any films but I've rented plenty and I have bought a few TV series' including LOST in HD.

There is a definite difference in quality between the HD and non-HD content on iTunes. I would have said the HD is better than DVD but obviously nowhere near BluRay standards.

I've been playing it along the lines of "rent it on iTunes and if it's any good buy it on BR".
However, when it comes to TV series', the convenience of having it all in one place out-weighs the slight reduction in quality.

In America they have HD iTunes movies I think so we should be getting that soon.

I've been hoping for this ever since they introduced it for the yanks.

I eagerly await it after every iTunes update and it never happens.
