what happens when you activate all 5 activations of an apple product to itunes

im on my 5th now and i have to remember to deactivate whenever i format, thats were the other 4 went ( lost in format )

Has happened to me before.

There's a link *somewhere* on the iTunes site that lets you get all five back. Only thing is, you have to deactivate them all.

I should really remember where I found it, was only two weeks ago I'm sure. But without doing that, you can't use the purchased content.

So yeah, Apple's site.

Yep. Also you can do this if you've reached your 5:

Open Itunes and in the menu bar click on Store >> View My Account >> Enter Apple ID and Password.

There should be a small summary screen where you can edit credit card information and account information. Five down you should see a "Computer Authorisations" aswell. If you have used all 5 machines there should be a "De-authorise All" button to the right. Click that and it should deauthorise all machines for you.

Please note: You can Only Do This Once a Year. Though if you find you do it again you can often email Apple support and they'll most likely do it for you. I've had to do this on a couple of occasions. :)
