I love iTunes, it does exactly what I want it to but why the hell is the Shuffle so bad? I have 101 artists in my library, 2k odd tracks yet in the past 30 songs or so, I've heard the same artist more than four times....Its awful.

Any ideas why or is this a common thing?

Are you being serious?

It's supposed to choose a random track. If by pure coincidence the same artist appears within a certain period several times, you're just unlucky.

I'm being very serious :)

I have 101 artists, 2603 tracks. I have listened to about 30 songs so far, with artists being played more than 5 times each.

Surely the "randomness" would see that I have listened to an artist more than four times now and will choose another artist that has yet to be played. Not sure how you don't see this :p

I know it's random, but it's a very very unintelligent shuffle. Winamp was a lot better for this as you could actually set it how random you wanted (less same artists being played etc)

I just want to listen to all my library yet I'm getting the same artist. Nevermind, I'll survive.

A little while back they changed the shuffle on iTunes because it was too random and people complained the same song 3+ times in a row or an album playing from start to finish. They changed the code so that it's actually less random and more likely to play other songs. Maybe you're just unlucky! (I only use shuffle albums and find I have to skip a few every now and then)
