Yes I know this should prob be in apple software but nobody goes there...!

Can I just grab my itunes folder, and transfer it to a new PC via an external HD... Will I have any problems with music purchased off itunes? When I try and sync up my ipod touch will it remove everything from it?

I'm anticipating...

itunes bought tracks will be fine, but I'll use up one of my '5 computers'.

ipod will reset and I'll have to sync everything. This means that I'll have to re-check all the songs I want transferred across again as my ipod is smaller than my library.

I'll have to download apps again

Possible solutions...

Can I copy the itunes library file across? I take it this will retain all my playlists, in which case I could make a playlist of my checked songs, copy library file across to new pc, then ensure all the songs in that playlist are checked again before transferring to ipod.

Will that work?

What about album art?

Ta!

make sure you de-authorise the old computer as well, apples DRM is a pain to get reset.

iTunes music is not DRM'd any more! You can "upgrade" your old DRM music for a small fee to DRM free.

I have copied my iTunes folder to and from a good half dozen Macs so far with no problems at all...

I've moved from PC to PC before with no issue, I let iTunes organise the music in folders and I copy the whole music folder from PC to PC. Authorisation is the main pain.
