ITV Censoring Rant!

now when Dr Cox's bit is not cut, and locklears bit is cut to "Plomox is the most effective anti-arrhythmic drug on the market right now", what dr cox says makes no sense.

Every single episode of scrubs on paramount comedy is like that, with whole scenes cut from it, and since each episode is only 22min long, a cut scene can make a huge difference.


Cutting bits out of a violent film is one thing, cutting bits out of a comedy is just stupid.

This bugs me too. It particularly ruins episodes of Scrubs because they often cut out JD's 'fantasy moments' where he goes off into a day dream about something, so the joke when they cut back, or the whole point of the scene sometimes, makes absolutely no sense. They do the same things on some episodes of Friends on E4.
 
What about the bad editing in Transformers, obviously in order to get it passed as a 12 they had to cut some swearing, in the desert as they are chased by the scorpion the whole soundtrack goes silent to cut it out, its silly.

I truly HATE the TV cut of Terminator 2 - they chop out that bit on removing the chip, and they have cut out some of the ending bits where John Connor realises the T1000 isnt Sarah Connor with his hand on the handrail - and some bits where Sarah is abused by her jailor, hence the reason she hates him so much when she breaks out.

Truly awful cut as the above bits are all important plot points - loved the film so much more when I saw a proper full length uncut version!
 
To all those moaning about the censorship and the cuts, my words are:

If you are that bothered about it, why not go and buy the Directors Cut full length bonus extravaganza DVD...instead of watching it on T.V?

I mean, you can probably pick up the above DVD for what...a few quid? It is an 18 year old film afterall.... :)

To preempt the responces: Yes, it does suck about censorship, but that's the way it is. I'd be annoyed if I were watching it on normal TV but then again it is what I would expect if I were. I'd be very supprised if ITV have multiple cuts of the film for being aired at different times/channels.

Haha thats another reason I do love censoring sometimes:

"Yippie Kai Yay KIMO-SABI" - clearly mouthing the words mother ****er.

The fact that Predator is nearly 2 hours long normally and on the original ITV cuts it was about 1.25 hours long.

Uncle Buck, right at the end where he destroys the kitchen and it pans close in on John Candy's face saying **** (faeces) but says the word "SHOOT!".


Some real classics that just have to make you laugh.

That's the Director's Cut! They probably showed the Theatrical Cut last night

yet an episode on last night where Lisa is trying to launch an independant newspaper had Willie shouting "they're all ****e!!!!" near the end.....:D

edit. ooh, didn't realise OcUK had automatic swear filters built in, I didn't actually put the stars in my comment.....
Presumably threads about the legendary Bolton footballer Danny ****tu result in permabans :D

Apparently C4 have had to apologise in the past for the U2 episode where Adam Clayton describes his band mates as w*****s... being aired at 6pm.....:D

That's the theatrical cut which they showed in the cinemas! Nothing to do with TV!

Not that awful really, but once you've seen the director's cut you do realise it's lacking.
