If you check out the footage they used with the original you can blatantly see they've altered the hue and used 'mass effect movie grain' to make it seem like poor video capture

This isn't confusion, it's just there is no footage of the IRA firing weapons and taking down choppers but they want the public to feel like there really was a threat and that Libya was to blame.
