I have noticed in all of the football matches shown by ITV the quality of the digital picture is absolutely terrible, as soon as the camera zooms out it becomes a blocky mess (freeview). Strangely BBC is perfect, its like a low resolution video compared to a high res one.

Do Itv broadcast in lower quality? Why can't the BBC show all the matches, its what the licence fee is for!

AFAIK BBC will be showing more of the games in the later stages :o

I do agree though, ITV seems exceedingly poor.. has done all day tbh.

....just wish they'd shut up about Rooney!

Every match? There are around 3-4 matches everyday so the BBC would be chopping off a lot of their schedule and that includes the later episode of Neighbours!

ITV's picture quality is the least of my worries about their football (and sports in general, no, in fact all ITV programming) coverage. My major gripe is the presenters, commentators, graphics, etc, etc

Plus they had a competition in the middle of the news the other day, I mean WTF? I want to know what's going on in the world not win a TomTom inbetween hearing about war and corruption

if you're watching iTV on freeview, why not try on normal TV?

We use the normal terrastrial channels because they dont broadcast in widescreen (i cant stand widescreen, and we dont have a wide screen tv anyway)

Someone said that ITV news is like the sun on TV and I hadn't really noticed until I made the effort to watch the news.

"3 degrees from disaster" just smacks of the tabloid press.

Worse during the F1 when they put adverts on every 20mins
Yeah like the last lap of San Marino last year

In fact F1 has been in decline ever since ITV took over coverage. Maybe it isn't the FIA/Ecclestone's fault after all, hmmmmmm interesting....

Picture quality has been fine here all day, on freeview, the signal dropped went dodgy for a minute, but the cat had nocked the wire out the wall.

you should get with the times, almost all tv material is 16x9 these days ;)

And yes, the picture on sky was rubbish but thats the same on all the channels all the time, compression artifacts all over the place. I watched something last night, Law&Order or something which had such heavy compression it really did look like it was in 16 colour. I shudder to think what the HD feeds will be like given some time, I've heard complaints of compression artifacts allready.

Analogue terrestrial is deffintaly better PQ than sky, 4:3 though :(

ITV is abysmal no matter what they're broadcasting. Last time I was looking at the ACORN geodemographic profiling stuff they actually quoted levels of ITV viewing as an indication of the type of people in that area as it's apparently considered "low-brow" TV. Not very politically correct but probably quite accurate.

ITV1 picture quality is shocking however ITV HD looks pretty good, a lot of people saying better than BBC HD.

Thats because the adverts are more interesting than the 'racing' these days.

I suppose at least the compression made crouch look a bit more bearable.

Yup, i've noticed this too.

Even on terrestrial broadcast I can see digital jaggys especially around the goal nets and chalk lines.

Also do those cheek(?) mics bother anyone else. They look ridiculous at times.

I noticed that too. ITV really are terrible. The compression they use on Sky is absolutely dreadful. Nothing like the crystal clear image you get via BBC. I also DESPISE ITV because of the adverts. I like the way the BBC jump straight into the analysis.

yep them dumb yanks from the Budweiser ads are REALLY getting on my nerves

also i REALLY hate the way ITV are so cheap that they cram a small ad just
after the nation anthem plays and the teams are taking up positions

UNACCEPTABLE

the adverts are the most exiting part of a F1 race ;)

60s 70s 80s 90s were great, the 00s its just been awful :( bring back turbos and slicks and let them do 400mph down the Nordschliefe dottinger hohe, get some danger back in it
