iv done it!

Doesn't bother me. Most other companies traffic shape. At least with virgin you get a decent speed all the time. Just don't download shed loads during peak times.

It amazes me that people want to save £10 a month on their broadband, but are willing to fork out £20+ a month for the rubbish that is Sky TV & £30 a month for a phone contract, or pay £20 a month for a window cleaner (just becasue they are too lazy to go up a ladder for 20mins every 2 weeks themselves)

I've been with BT for the last 7 years - and pay £26 a month for their top service. I get 80GB a month at 3GB download speeds every day of the year. And in 7 years there has been 3 days where I couldn't connect, and probably 6 days where I couldn't get my emails.

Wondered why my connection has slowed, used to get ~500kb/sec now it's down to 85kb/sec maximum

That's not due to the restriction. Best phone them up. The restriction. basically halfs your speed. If you download so many mb with a few hours. Between 4pm and midnight. It then only restricts your connection for 4 hours. Before returning it to full speed.

I pay £14.99 for my 8Mb line (normally get between 6Mb and 7.5MB) and don't get throttled at all for normal traffic. It is however throttled to 4Mb for P2P downloads during the day but 0:00-12:00 is full speed. So for me, someone who doesn't use much P2P it's perfectly fine for the price

will they do that?

I'm currently paying 60+ a month for what new custemers get for £30:mad:

Really irrates me since I've been with them since the beginning, been looking to change but going to a btline is a pita.

phone up cancellations say you want to leave, they will offer you a contract better than a new customer gets.

This is where people come on saying they've got the VIP package and free mobile calls to anywhere forever for £10 a year.

you're the only member that can make me 'laugh out loud' (well chuckle quietly to myself) in one sentance :p:D

Get throttled pretty much every day on XL, cant complain though we probably download 50gb a week here! (6 Of us in student digs) Better than having a usage cap thats for sure.

couldn't agree more, it's not like it's an expensive service for what you get

if you're on adsl, you've got line rental and usage caps, and letters through the post for usage..

with the speed increases they've given recently, it's not surprising they put limits in place at peak times, otherwise it'd grind to a halt for everyone :)
