I've been banned from my favourite COD2 server because they think i use hacks

Hi all,

For Christmas i finally got COD2 and have really enjoyed playing it, i went through the singleplayer missions several times.

It's only very recently that i've started to play my collection of games online as i've only just found that quite a few of my friends play multiplayer games as well. So it was through them that i found XFire and started playing COD2 online a couple of weeks ago.

At first, like anyone else, i was really bad, getting completetly slaughtered on servers with lots of people. However, after finding this server i started to get better at the game as only a few people are ever playing.

The two admins of the server were always on and grew to know me and knew that i was still a 'n00b' at the game seeing as i could never kill them. They seemed pretty decent and always helped me out with anything.

Since then, they had server problems and therefore i didn't get to play against them much, if at all. Because of this, i started branching out and playing on other servers and inevitably i became a LOT better and can now beat them quite easily. I improved over the space of about 1 and a half weeks, playing everyday for quite a while.

When i joined the server today and started getting far more kills and far less deaths than the two admins, they accused me of cheating. I was shocked at this as they had played me many times before and knew that i don't cheat.

They told me to leave and come back when i wasn't using cheats otherwise they would ban me. I told them that i would, but seeing as i don't use cheats they will kick me anyway when i come back and start winning again. I carried on playing on their server as i hadn't done anything wrong and they ended up kicking me :mad:

What annoys me the most is that i would probably do the same thing if i was them. Because i only started playing online a few weeks ago, i was really bad and could never beat them but now that i can, after only a short while, it does sound a bit fishy.

I know that there's nothing that i can do until punkbuster becomes available for COD2 but that was my favourite server and i really enjoy playing there

Has anybody else had any experiences like this?

Happened many times in a number of games. Just forget about it, they are only jealous because you are now better than them... so you must be cheating!

If you constantly play people who are not as good as you then you will never improve. Move on to a server populated with people who actually know what they are doing and you will improve further.

I didn't know what to do as it's the first time it's happened to me. I suppose you're right though.

And i though they were decent people

Any idea when the COD2 patch will be released with pb?

Because of the lack of PB support for the game, it is quite easy to accuse someone whom, appears to be better than you or, because they have a ping which, gives them an advantage.
If you use the Killcam to view how you were killed then, sometimes you may wonder, how the hell did he see me? A larger screen with decent resolution make's a world of difference too.

Jump onto our clan's CoD2 server and you will be welcomed. It's an American based server but, there are more from Europe than the U.S itself. The server runs a mod from the original CoD game called AWE which, enables sprint, cookable nade's, healthpack's and anti map exploit.

Server name is AWE Asshattery and the IP 66.165.90.127:28960

I go by the same name as i do on these forums.

I think sometimes when i have a rifle and happen to walk into someone and i fire randomly, managing to hit them it may give the impression that i'm cheating but i sometimes wonder how i hit them. I'm still a bit frustrated at getting kicked

it happens.... at the mo im stuck playing against bots coz i own CS:S, BF2, Q4, COD:2 and unreal and cant stop getting kicked.

Seriously, most admin's are tards. They're not angry at you deep down, just trying to exorcise the demons of being beaten up all the time by people 3 grades below them at school

Just a thing to say about admins, sometimes they will kick ppl who play too good, even if they dont cheat, its viewed as keeping the server health as the ppl who play too good keep owning the others and they start to leave the server, which is something no admin likes to see, an empty server which is just a waste of money.

Hmm.... maybe in some instances, but just as likely is the fool who likes his bit of power and can't take losing ala cs. Anyway no need to accuse the guy of cheating, maybe just a polite request to move on would have been nicer.

i wouldnt put all my faith in pb as it can be got round especially with private hacks think there actually is a tool to avoid being detected or block a ban status as being flagged. quite sad really

hate cheats some times find my self wondering if im being beaten by someone if they are hacking or not only natural i suppose but i do give them the benefit of the doubt unless they have outrageous accuracy etc.

Tbh all the cheats i have ever seen in games are quite blatant, generally people just looking to make a bit of trouble or 'rage'

. Anyone experienced at a game can tell if someone is cheating, and watching a player on a 3rd person cam would no doubt spot a cheat.

Yeh you can also drop by our server (Gunningforglory.com) well I say our server, what I mean is that it isn't completely finished yet. We've got a dedicated box cause one of the members works in a server place. Score

Jealous people with too much power me thinks!!
Happened to me twice on Quake 4, kicked by the same guy. Joined a game half way through, fragged him 3 - 4 times within a few minutes then he calls a vote to kick me because I'm cheating, apparently [punkbuster server though :rolleyes:

]. Does it again a few days later. Idiot!

Same thing almost happened to me once... That's why i'm waiting for this gosh darn tootin patch... It's going to be out SOON i think. Not quite sure how SOON but it'll be out SOON enough.

Haven't played it for a month cos of this :S

Possibly my favourite thing about moving to xbox 360 on live for my multiplayer fix is that it definitely feels like everyone is on a level playing field. Same technology, same controller and little to no cheating...

I mean, im pretty good at games generally, i pick them up quite fast but then get surpassed in the months that the people who can become experts at the game. Today i was racing in PGR3, which i hadnt done for some time, but there was a seriously fast guy on one of the tracks and was 2 tenths faster than me in most sectors.. but you would never accuse him of cheating he was just purely better.

Tonight i met two guys from Holland on GRAW where we played some Coop stuff and they were really nice, friendly and wanted to have fun.. it was really good. So put the bad multiplayer experiences behind you and look forward to that next gripping/intense/fun COD2 game.

yeah some are blatant however through chatting to other experienced players and server admins cheats are becoming more sophisticated in that instead of purely going for headshots etc can specify the percentage of heads / bodys / area of the screen to pick up on auto targeting.

i play et mostly and the sad thing about the fact the game is free is you can delete your etkey, reconnect to the net and get back on a server this only normally happens with the ones that want to **** you off.
cant see how anyone gets enjoyment out of cheating, hollow victory imo.
