I've been scammed...

wait a bit longer.

but there is no way to get money back from a bank transfer.
in the future use a credit card linked to paypal.

Slightly off topic, I see a few members here mentioning the members market. Do I need to be here for a certain time, or hit a post count to get access to this?

On-topic, I hope your situation resolves itself positively, even though it sounds unlikely.

Lol OP. I've been waiting for nearly a month for some car parts which I've ordered. Seller has been in contact with me and said they got lost in the post and will be sent out again. I asked for another update, which I know he has read. Though no reply. Reputable guy.

On your case please do not buy on Gumtree unless you go with someone and pay cash on collection. Too many dodgy people out there. A lesson learnt for you.

Police probably won't be interested, it's a civil issue. I would give him a little bit longer before I did anything, but if you don't receive any word or the phone, I'd try the ActionFraud website.

Dont think the bank can do anything if it a straight BT. They cant give u details either, however if i were u, either

1. Contact Trading Standards
2. Contact the Police.

Both would be able to do something because as someone has mentioned it fraud.

Hope it works out.

Someone bought something from me on preloved a couple of months ago. Was £130 - Wanted it posting to Scotland. Paid by BT after I refused to take PayPal (in case of buyer protection scam).

He paid - Didn't speak on the phone at all. Would have been so easy to scam....didnt even have my mobile number. Obviously I didn't, but it amazed me that he actually carried out the transaction in that way.

op, reside yourself to not getting the money back, everyone knows gumtree is cash on pickup, and anyone who asks me for bank details on there get told in the nicest way possible :D to F off

seriously, what where you thinking?

Never know the phone may actually turn up...

I had this problem once with Gumtree, except I was going to drive 10 miles to pay him cash in hand. He didn't want me to test the iphone at his house (Probably didn't want to reveal his address or perhaps the Iphone's wifi was not working)... he wanted me to test it at the local McDonalds, what a waste of space...

Be extremely cautious when using gumtree, it's full of scammers.

I'm really sorry to have to say this but there is a high chance that you are dealing with a scammer.

Why is that a problem? I sell a fair amount on there and I never ever ask them to come to my place. Always in public. Last thing I want is some psycho rocking up stealing all my stuff :P
