Sold all of my PC except the hard drives, had two 250GB SATA in RAID0.

I thought I had backed up all my files, but in fact I hadn't. So I have these two hard drives sitting here, with all the data still on them... but no idea if I can actually get the data off.

I have an external drive with one SATA connection on it, but I'm guessing that nothing will recognise only one half of a RAID pair?

Any solutions? Even if I did manage to build a little RAID array would I be able to pull the data off? Or would I end up reformatting both drives?

id try and and find the same motherboard again, having the same RAID controller it might detect the RAID array.
Ive taken my whole rig apart and cleared the cmos, then plugged the 2 HDs back into the same SATA sockets, enable RIAD in BIOS, and it detected the array.
You might have some luck, worth a try if its important stuff.

I think those two hard disk raid system can be detected if the hard disk are set to raid mode on your bios system (did you use special raid card? or did you use intel south chipset for your raid system?)

I haven't tried before but I hope it might be working

I used the RAID controller on my old EVGA 680 sli, which I no longer have. Doh!

The only thing that hadn't backed up were pictures, which isn't the end of the world but would like to get them back if it is possible.

I had a raid0 array built on my X38 mobo and went I got my new X58 mobo it found the array ok, as I was doing a new install I wiped it anyway but you may be lucky.

On the other hand I moved to a new case last week and my Sammy SSD's in Raid0 got messed up during the swap for some strange reason, I had to delete and re-build the array then install from fresh.

I have a similair situation, a while back i was running 2 raptors in raid0 on my p5q deluxe, i started getting a lot of errors at boot, eg a drive has failed. As i was needing my machine i switched the bios boot order from raid back to ide, as i had another single hdd with an os installed. If i want to go back to raid (solely to wipe the pair of raptors) is it just a matter of putting them back in the case and switching boot config back to raid?

The software I will be trying to use works like this:

Copies all the data off the two disks separately, then recombines the data to form one large .img file, a perfect copy of my original RAID 0...

Apparently.

Went out and bought a cheap external hard drive. Took off casing (which was a mission involving brute force and a drill!)

Got both my 250s USBd up to my Mac. Using Boomerang I've managed to reconnect/reassemble my R0 config. Looks like Ill be able to get my photos off after all.

I bet this software will ask me for a key as soon as I try to recover anything...

Good luck to you.. :)
However there might be other ways
How about using torrent?
I think you can get the software with a proper key or proper validation, (I hope:) )

You may well have to pay. Is raid reconstructor is by runtime? Yesterday I lost partition data on two disks, used their getdataback software to recover the data. It let me see the data, but to copy it I needed to buy the license ($79). Bit the bullet and did it as was for work and I needed it quickly, be interested to know if raid reconstructor works as well.

The raid reconstructor worked perfectly for me (Boomerang software) managed to see all my files but decided £50 was pointless for 2gig of photos that I have strewn over facebook already. The hard drives will sit around until I can get some freebie software to get the files off and I have the patience again to dismantle 2 external HDDs...
