I've got a Gb of memory missing?

I have 4 1Gb Geil ram modules in my P5B, but in System properties it shows I have 2.93Gb :( What's happened to the other Gb?

Yup, won't go above 3 gig if you're running XP/Vista 32 bit.

4GB of RAM is the maximum memory that the 32bit copy of XP can handle (2^32=4294967296, or 4.2 billion) can access 4096MB, or 4GB. There is however a 2GB limit each application can have in the virtual address space.

With 4GB of physical RAM many motherboards will reserve at least 512MB in the address space. That is why it will only show ~3.5GB of RAM.
 
Address space isnt 'reserved' its just simply lost by some people. I had 4GB or RAM and a 512MB graphics card, and It showed 3.5GB in windows, so a full 4GB was being addressed across RAM and GFX. Some people only see 3GB with the same setup.
