Son's PC stopped giving a video out
fans dont come on the gpu, even after sitting for what should be long enough for some load to kick them on, RGB doesn't light up on the gpu either, AMD 5700 xt nitro +
all the othe fans in the pc come on, and the rgb lights on the ram come on
things I've tried,:
1,changing the ram to known working ram
2.can't try the gpu in my PC because I don't have the correct power connectors
3. tried another gpu in the system,an old amd 290 this is even older than the 5700, and lol, it was too old to be recognised by the bios, untill forced into CSM mode by wiping the cmos, and letting it do its thing
4. that number 3 GPU gives video out signal
5. tried different leads, and a different monitor
this leads me to believe that the PSU, the motherboard and thecpu/ram are all good, and it is the original GPU at fault, this is fine with me, it has lasted a long time, and has always been heavily overclocked, the only annoying thing is that it was worth £100 second hand, and obviously I'm going to have to fork out for another gpu, but this will be okay, because january sales
do you think that I'm correct about the gpu being faulty?
we do have a friendly computer shop who can test the gpu for us when they reopen for free, but if it works, I'm kinda stuffed because that must mean that it is either the board, or the psu
we are meant to be upgrading his gpu anyway, and we missed black friday by accident , he lost his job, so lack of funds
I can try to make sure that I get the replacement from amazon, so if the system still doesn't work then i'll have no problems getting a refund, I won't take up Ocuk CS time esp at this time of year trying to do the same thing, even though I bet they would do it if I asked nicely, the CS at OCUK is pretty damn fantastic, I've found
