I've got to ask, why would you spend more time on here than in the real world?

All of my GSCE subjects except English had very little coursework, and that of which we did we did in school.

Remember kids, pick the GNVQ route. No coursework and trips to Disney Land Paris ahoy! :)

I did GNVQ IT. Regretted it at first, but now I'm starting to like it, it's so easy that you literally can play games 99% of the lesson and still manage to get full marks.

First unit 100%.
Second unit 100%
Third unit 54% (they submitted 4/20 pages and screenshots etc)
Fourth unit 84%
Fifth unit 80%

Can't remember the rest of my marks but if I get over 80% on this unit they won't need to submit my third unit again as I'll get top grades overall. :)

edit: bringerofdecay, how much do they earn? I know it's a surprising amount, never thought it would be a lot.

Sorry but I laughed at that 'classical civilizations'. Is that like really early civilisations or like classical Victorian and Edwardian stuff.

ancient Rome, ancient Greece

Thucydides and Herodotus for greek literature
and Tacitus and Suetonius and Caesar (Gaius Julius) for ancient Rome

+theres the archeology side, which is mainly why i did the course

i also do medieval history, but the less said about that the better

Tell me about, we had a crap teacher and just did what we wanted and yet I still passed. I really didn't expect to pass either, as in the end I gave up caring. :o

I laughed in the exam when the first question was "What makes a keyboard useful for entering data?" or something like that... :p

You had Quake installed on your school PCs? :/

We have UT 2k3 installed on all school pc's, all p4's 3.0 ghz with onboard intel gfx or pentoumd D's 2.8 ghz with onboard intel gfx (so runs quite nice , not due to gfx but due to cpu's that make up for it) and often while in a lesson we're just gamign a bit...

EDIT, ok not installed by school, but 1 person just installed it once and shared the directory to everyone, allowing everyone to launch it.

"Name three input devices"

 :p

Hah! We had UT2K4 and other stuff, although they had like celeron's they had 1gig of ram and fairly decent graphics.

Getting taught in the newly converted IT room = win. :p

Also had Dangerous Dave! "Is your computer making noises...?" "Nope, no idea what you're talking about" :)

After this happened in the ever-popular girlfriend thread I have to ask why someone would spend time on here to the detriment of their real life...

You're averaging 24 posts a day - are you saying you have no "real life" for your posting to eat into then?

no, but one of our mates had a pendrive ;)

edit: also they weren't very good at stopping us downloading emulators/roms, ahh the fun we had

That's the difference between our schools... a friend of mine opened Dreamweaver and clicked import or something, the teacher was walking past and what followed was like something out of a movie. He shouted "LET GO OF THE MOUSE AND STEP AWAY FROM THE PC!" face was red and he was 100% serious. Apparently you could access other people's areas from within dreamweaver. :)

The admins are also really strict, can't run any programs without them letting you. Just comes up with "please contact your system admin" if you open one. :(

same at my college, however i dont really think our school expected any of us to have what, in essence was an expensive piece of kit (for a school kid) at the time

edit: oh, and the teacher did try to stop us in the beginning, but eventually just said "fine you litte gits, if you want to waste your life you can" so we did, like i said, we all managed a pass ;) so he was wrong, also my maths teacher told my right before the exam i'd be lucky if i got a C, i got an A lol :D

I guess some people can become addicted to diving about a big dirty forum but it depends. Im on here justnow because i have no money to be out and i have coursework due in on monday that i havent started yet. It's not because im on here im not doing the work it's because im a lazy ******** and need to get a grip on what i care about in life. :o

I'm not addicted to the forums in the slightest. In my spare time, when I'm not up to much else I'll have a browse for a while. I also like catching up on the threads throughout my day at work.

I think one of the things that make this forum quite addictive, is how popular it is. You can post a thread and get instant replies for example.

I prefer to be on here (and other websites) to being in "the real world" a lot of the time. At least on the internet you can easily communicate with a lot of people. I probably spend more time on the internet than not on the internet (not including sleep). The internet is pretty much the only thing I do other than going to the gym (in my garage) and school.

You dont have a hobby?

When i was your age i remember coming home from school with mates and sitting playing GTA3 on my Geforce 2 and then maybe getting a game of footie at the back of a block of flats once everybody had been in for dinner.

You only live once and im quite happy i did a lot when i was still young, maybe some of it wasnt very nice but its something to talk about with your mates. "Remember that time we were playing golf in the school ground n the ball...like....hit that car......." etc etc

The internet cant compare to getting out and about in real life.
