Right im fed up waiting for Atis next card, and theres no guarantee its going to be much better than a Gtx anyway

I know there are many threads on "what gtx", ive read them but i want to make my own and get all questions answered

Iv had a look at all the different brands, i know mosts Gtxs are the same but how big a difference is some clock speeds, for example some have 575mhz core speed, and others 600mhz. is there much a difference in performance? as there definately is price wise

To all the Gtx owners, which do you the best brand? from warranty, to bundles, to price and performance?

The watercooled Gtx is a no no, i like my noisy air :D

Anyway with stalker on the way i want a bad boy and wont want to worry about fps

My 1950Xt is pretty average, i never run AA as the fps get low. i can only run 1280x 1024 at the moment but plan on upgrading to a widescreen in future

What you think folks?

BFG, EVGA or OCZ for the warranties... screw the bundle it's the warranty and quality of the after-sales service that's important.

im thinking of getting Evga Superclocked 8800Gtx

Its only £10 more that the normal gtx on a competitor

But it has

621mhz core
2000mhz memory

is this too good to be true?
that extra speed for 10 quid more?

Ehmm well if that's whats advertised and they are selling it at that price then it can't be too good to be true... because it's just... true? :D

yeah

its just that the Ko edition is about 50-60 quid more, and has virtually the same speeds

im gona buy before they notice. seems like a bargain

Don't blame yer, no point waiting for the R600, no one knows anything about it speedwise, you could be sitting there for months then out it pops, and its no faster than the GTX, you'll have done all that waiting for nowt, or on the other hand it could blow it away, but do you want to wait that long to find out, and then theres G90 which will come along not long after that, and that may trounce R600, may as well buy the G80, everyone else is by the looks of it, they selling like hot-cakes everywhere. :D

Just went and bought the Evga superclocked Gtx for £380

Performance
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX
621 MHz GPU
128 Pixel Pipelines
400 MHz RAMDAC

Memory
768 MB, 384 bit DDR3
2000 MHz (effective)
96.0 GB/s Memory Bandwidth

Not bad, cant wait for stalker now

Just purchased exactly the same card for exactly the same reasons (prob from exactly the same supplier): fed up of waiting for ATI to get their act together and only £10 more thanthe basic GTX.

Plus with the EVGA you get to trade up if NV release something better in the next 90 days for the price difference.

Believe me you will be *very* happy with it!

[off topic slightly re EVGA stepup prog]
ok so say I buy the 320mb GTS version now from, say OcUK, I register it online with EVGA and then apply for the stepup programme within 90 days to go for the GTX or whatever is around after the GTX. I then have to buy the upgrade card direct from EVGA in the US of A? Is that how it works?

Am tempted to go with the EVGA also myself, + with the 90 day step up program am sure in 3 months time we may see Nvidias next hot card ;)

Either that or minus 30-40 quid and on the For sales forums ;)

As soon as I can get rid of my 640MB 8800 in the MM, i'll be getting a GTX too. :)

Can I ask why the upgrade? Thinking of getting the 640mb GTS for a 20.1" screen with an E6600. GTS not worth it?

I actually dfont think G90 will trounce R600 - it is going to be to similar to G80 - just tweakeed and with faster clock speeds.
G100 however.... :D

GTS is wholly worth its pricetag, it's just everytime I upgrade I never get the flagship card as there isn't a significant performance difference to accompany the high premium you'd have to pay. In the 8800 GTX's case though, the inclusion of 32 more stream processors and the greater level of memory is really worth the added pricetag.

I've found the GTS runs all my games at a suitable level; it's just well, personally i'm in a situation where I can afford to spend the extra for the added ability to future proof myself. The GTS actually struggled playing CNC3 at 16x AA/16xAF (Supersampling, etc all turned on), so to be honest despite the GTS being a powerhouse, it wasn't as powerful as I expected. Thee GTX will rectify that.
