Ive Had Enough With Waiting...8800Gtx Time!

Cheers mate. C&C3 is one of my main reasons upgrading. Talked me into a GTX now...
People seem to disregard the GTX due to the pricetag and previous flagship cards being only for the people with more money than worth. But yeah, the GTX is in a class of its own at the moment. A few people who have moved from a GTS to GTX also feel games are much smoother not only because of the extra power from the processors, but the increased shader ability too.

If you get the GTX, you'll be safe knowing you have the best card currently available.

The GTS actually struggled playing CNC3 at 16x AA/16xAF (Supersampling, etc all turned on), so to be honest despite the GTS being a powerhouse, it wasn't as powerful as I expected. Thee GTX will rectify that.

Lol u are kidding right? The frame rate on C&C3 is capped at 30fps despite wether you turn off vsync or not so if you think you may get more fps frm a GTX in C&C3 then you wont ;)
My GTS runs the game super smooth at those settings as the engine is only a slightly enhanced sage engine from the BFME series which was enhanced from the C&C Generals series. I dont know where you get the GTS struggles at those settings as it completely flies on those settings in my system and the load times are oh so 3seconds lol!

CNC3 is capped, no... get out!?! :D

I know the game is capped, but in extensive battles, my framerate drops to around 20 FPS, especially if I rotate the camera to face the other way.

Load times are 3 seconds here too, so no surprise there.

edit: You are running at 1680x1050, enabled Supersampling, Trilinear Filtering and of course forced 16xAA/16xAF? I am only running 1GB too, yet I don't think that should bother CNC3.

of course running 1GB ram would effect that!

youd be better off with 2GB RAM + GTS than 1GB RAM + GTX...

is the GTX really that future proof over the GTS? i dont think so. you might consider saving the cash for the GTX for the NEXT revision of nvidia cards.

but the EVGA SUPERKO is a decent card for that price.

Really? I would expect games such as BF2142 with 2GB required to suffer, but not CNC3.

I have my motherboard being RMA'ed today or tomorrow as Channel A is dead, therefore I can't run 2GB and haven't been able too for a good week now. I've only had the GTS for three days and I sold it today anyway for a GTX.

Good grief man - if you're just after that 'new card smell' I'm sure you can buy it by the can - got to be cheaper :D
I sold the GTS for a profit, so it's about £50 difference in change. Gotta love fleabay nubs. :p

am waiting for the DX10 cards to come down in price just saw you can get them for under £200 with the lower memory my question is am i still best waiting fot the bigger memory ones to come down in price or just get one of the low memory ones

They wont come down in price as there is no competitor. ATI dont have a card that can match the 8800gtx so normal market forces do not apply.
Why drop the price when they are currently selling like hot cakes at £350+
