I've never seen The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. What am I missing?

Hand in your man card until you've watched it. The word 'epic' get over-used, but not in this case. It is an all time classic up there with films like the Godfather and Goodfellas.

It is a very good film though I actually prefer "For A Few Dollars More". Timeline wise, it's also reckoned GBU is actually set before the first two films. It is quite a long haul compared to the first two films, but very watchable none the less. Even after all these years, the music score still sends shivers up my spine.

In some ways, all three films pretty much broke the mould of the traditional "cowboy" film with a far more down to earth depiction of the people and surroundings and indeed the morality. No where is that more apparent than with the character of the Man with No Name, epitome of the anti-hero rather than a John Wayne or Audie Murphy "good guy".

I'm contributing to a essay collection about the Western at the minute, it's a fantastic film (imho).

Interesting slight change in the nostalgia that is present in the film, among other things.

Sergio Leone was a genius and the Good the Bad and the Ugly is arguably his best film.

Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach and Lee Van Cleef are immense in it.

8.9 on IMDB and it is ancient, even the nippers know it's a classic.

IMO the best film ever made. :D

I would watch a fist full of dollars and for a few dollars more first. Its one of those series imo that get better with every movie.

I keep meaning to watch it on blu-ray as I've had the trilogy for a few months now.

And you'll never hear the theme in the same light again.

One of, if not THE best film of all time, accompanied by The Ecstasy of Gold as a soundtrack which is again one of, if not the best track ever written for a film score.

I'll never ever forget the first time I watched the cemetery scene, the saying 'edge of your seat' really doesn't do it justice.

Not just the best western ever, but one of the best movies of all time.

You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.

Words simply cannot describe how good this film is. The acting (Wallach stole the show in my opinion), cinematography and musical score are all exemplary.

Watch this, watch the other spaghetti westerns.

have you been living in a cave??

see it asap, its good to see the directors cut version if you can, where they add in the cut out scenes

I also like the more obscure sabata films with lee van cleef in it,similar character to a few dollars more

I wasn't a fan of the extra scenes due to the dubbing over of the added footage with the actors voices when they added the scenes a few years ago. Their voices were completely different and it just felt a bit crap.

Yeah true. I couldn't believe when I found out there were extra scenes.

Please don't reach for the pitch forks but I think this piece from Once Upon a Time in the West trumps ecstasy of gold. Only by a smidgin mind
