I've pre-ordered an LG 32GP850-B from Overclockers (ETA: 31 July 2021):

However, since I placed my order Hardware Unboxed released their video exposing LG's attempts to manipulate their yet to be published review of the LG 32GP850-B.

My concern is that this attempt by LG to manipulate the review could have been triggered by issues with the monitor currently known only to LG. The Hardware Unboxed review on the 32" is still pending and there is doubt in my mind as to whether I keep the pre-order active or request cancellation from Overclockers.

Under the current circumstances, what would you guys do ?

Keep the pre-order. HU said they'd release the review of the 32" soon, and hinted that their review was going to be positive.

I don't think there's anything there to make you doubt your purchase.

LG’s concerns just seemed to be that the motion clarity was not as much of an improvement from previous models as they had hoped. But the previous model was superb anyway, so even a mild improvement still makes it a top class display.

I have the monitor in front of me. I'd say keep the preorder. If it wasn't for a bit too much IPS glow for my taste this would be the perfect monitor. Got an Odyssey G7 coming tomorrow to try out before I decide to send the LG back or not.

Thanks for the info - I'll be interested to see what you decide once you get the Odyssey G7.

Okay after a few days with the Odyssey I've made my decision now that I got to use them side by side.

The LG is getting returned.

After some adjustments I have gotten them to look nearly identical and the IPS glow either got worse or I started noticing it more.

After the firmware update on the Odyssey all the issues mentioned on other sites seems to be gone. No flickering (except in menus pretty typical for Freesync I think) and no microstuttering with VRR turned on (or off that I could notice either but I just left it on)

It also helps that I got the G7 for $100 less than the LG

Now I'm seeing new Gigabyte and MSI ultrawide for the same price or lower...ugh just wanna get the best bang for my buck and always second question my choices!

It's interesting to read this. I currently have the upgrade itch and have been scouring the monitor market for a few weeks and although most forums appear to show nothing but contempt for VA panels I have seen more and more people opting for the likes of the G7 and various other VA offerings.

I currently have the Z35p and while I find the VA panel pretty good I have been eyeing up and IPS alternative as an upgrade - maybe I needn't bother?

I really did like the LG it was a nice colorful screen and I didn't have a single problem with it other than the bad IPS glow. I haven't had a flat monitor in a long time so it was nice! I tried moving it, adding and moving lights, moving seats, etc and nothing could mitigate the glow so ultimately it went back. If you can get a panel with minimal glow I'd definitely recommend it especially for the price.

I picked up an open box Acer Predator X38 to check out which comes Friday I think I haven't been truly happy with any screens because I'm having withdrawal from ultrawides lol

Gonna be hard to push 3840x1600 @ 165hz but this'll be my first true native Gsync screen so hopefully it'll be decent until I can get my hands on a 3080

I just picked up the AW3420DW from Currys @ eBay for £650 :p.
It wasn’t even a monitor that was initially on my radar as it offers little over my Z35p other than native 120hz refresh and a Nano-IPS panel. Additionally it physically looks MUCH nicer than the Predator which isn’t difficult.
I just felt I’d spent so long researching this past while that I needed to buy something to show for my efforts! If money was no object I would have 100% considered the AW3821DW however it is twice the price of what I got the 34 inch model for and I couldn’t justify that sort of layout for a monitor. The X38 definitely fell into that bracket as well.

I’ve only ever had my VA based Z35p as I only ever owned standard 16:9 60hz monitors before so I am really looking forward to see if IPS is all it’s cracked up to be. I’m hoping it is however if I genuinely see no improvement over my Acer I will just return.

How much did you snap up the X38 for if you don’t mind my asking?

See I like the way the Predator looks and don't care much for Alienware aesthetic :) So nice to have design choices when buying a monitor!

Got the X38 for $1300 including shipping and taxes. It's gonna take a lot to make me return the Odyssey G7...it sure is a very nice screen.

I noticed that there is currently only one English Language review against this monitor on the Rainforest site - it's a poor review and it gets two stars.
The rest are all in Italian, are verified purchases and all give it good reviews with either four or fives stars.

The two star review reads as follows:
Mr Xxx Xxxxxx
2.0 out of 5 stars Terrible monitor, unethical LG

I bought this monitor after reading good reviews, I was bothered by the fact when I received it that there seems to be a lot of ghosting and flickering, regardless of what mode\resolution\refresh rate I chose.
And today my fears were confirmed and I found out that LG are blackmailing review sites into only publishing pre-approved and paid for reviews.
Look up the YouTube video from hardware unboxed for more details.Do not buy this monitor, do not believe any review you read. This is junk.

I suspect that the two star review may be an attempt at trolling - what do you guys think ?

Definate troll. LG's web site has such posts also. Hardware Unboxed would have picked up on any issues, especially given the drama with LG.

Doesn't appear to have any issues. I'll keep my pre-order.

So my X38 came with 1 green stuck pixel which I can't seem to get rid of. It's on the right 1/3 of the panel. Noticeable on black obviously. But I got a good discount on it....so do I keep the gigantic awesome screen with a stuck pixel or return it and keep my flawless 32 inch G7...

I couldn't cope with a dead or stuck pixel while working. A spec of dust on the screen drives me crazy. I doubt I'd notice it while gaming though.
