....hidden the TV away upstairs in a cupboard, along with the Freeview box!

I am off on holiday this weekend and hope that a week in the mountains will clear my head of the mind numbing dross that the bloody thing pumps out. When I come back I hope to be cured.

I have been threatening to do this for a while and suffered a mild panic attack over Christmas when the TV had a hissy fit and went blank on me. "So much for your fine words" I thought to myself after that incident. So after reading the latest TV thread in SC I decided to hide it away as soon as I got home. I intend to give it a month to see if I miss it, if I don't I will be selling the thing so that some other unsuspecting soul can have their brain scrambled by it instead.

Anyone else got rid of the TV, was it hard to do and have you missed it?

I have lots of things planned and the novelty of tonight without it has been quite nice, I have even planned a few things for me to do instead over the coming weeks. The first was, of course, taking the metephorical 'red pill' and removing it from use. :)

got rid of the one in my room a long time ago ,

didnt really have an effect cos i just watch crap on the net now instead of watching crap on tv :o

might as well get rid of it. think its been on for a total of one hour in the last five days. Though i know as soon as i did get rid/hide it away i would want to put it on.

watch it for top gear/news/simpsons. pretty much all i bother with.

i have this idealistic dream where i wouldnt have one and r4/r2 would be on constantly but i doubt this will ever happen :D

Barely watched TV since I started uni. Never had the time. Though we have one in our lounge for the odd 360 session, it's good to know it's there when Top Gear and Planet Earth is on.

I've never really watched a massive amount of TV because the vast majority of stuff on there is complete rubbish. I don't care what happens when you put a load of washed-up celebs in a house together!

When I went to uni, I didn't even notice it was gone. Last term I reckon I watched about 2 hours probably. Just do something else instead when you would normally be watching TV - read a book or something.

I have mine next to me, set up but I don't use it very often. I find instead of spending all the time in front of my TV, i spend it all in front of my PC, so no real changes to anything :p

I only really watch the news in the mornings, and I would rather be on the computer (but it is not viable due to time restrictions), and other than that I rarely watch the television. I use a television in my room for playing PS2, and even if I wanted to watch it, the signal is bad, and I don't want to watch something that is bad quality.

I sold my tv a couple of weeks ago and the only time I've had a sudden pang to watch it has been in the mornings (I used to use the sleep timer as an alarm clock).

TVs are sooo old tech :D

No TV...but are you just gonna sit in front of your PC and use these forums/internet instead?! Or is it the content rather than the fact you're sitting on your arse all the time?:)

I've not had a TV for about 7yrs now, don't miss it one bit! If I'm at someone's house and they have a TV on, I always, but always say to myself how can they sit there watching that crap?

I use the PC for all my entertainment and if I have to endure a power-cut then I settle down and read through all the threatening letters I keep getting from TVLicensing :D

ive not really watched much tv in 5 years or so now, basically since i started college. Didnt watch ANY at uni, never bothered to since i left.

Not had tv since starting uni back in September, haven't missed it at all.
The rare times I actually want to watch it I just go to the SU bar for the football, when Topgear comes back on it might be slightly missed though, but I've got a few mates who all like it so no doubt we will crowd around in one room :p

I usually only watch it if there's something special on like traffic cops etc.

One thing I would miss would be the news, I know you can use websites but I quite like watching it when there's breaking news.

Hardly ever watch TV at Uni, no time. When I go back home I realise how banal it is but invariably end up watching some anyway as a matter of routine...
