Ivy bridge not working with 16GB of ram

I have a problem with a pc, it's an ECS Eilitegroup Z77H2-A2X.

My problem is I can't get 16gb of ram working with Ivy bridge ( 3770K):

3770K :
2x4 gb > Works fine, but the last 2 ram slots don't work. Mainboard gives ''no memory'' error code if anything in the right 2 RAM slots.
4x4 gb > No memory error code.
2x8 GB > posts, but locks up/BSOD's, irrelevant of ram speed and voltages

However, there is no problem on Sandy bridge, 4x4 gb works fine on the same mainboard on a 2600k. ( haven't tried the 2x8 gb on sandy bridge yet)

I've tried various ram settings and voltages on the 2x8 gb, from 1333 to 1600 mhz, loosened timings,, manual/auto/xmp, etc... No change at all in the BSOD/reboot moment. It also BSOD's on the recovery console and windows setup.

Any ideas what might be wrong ? Faulty cpu perhaps ? I don't have any other Ivy bridge compatible mobo's atm to test :(.

Which one is it ?

Tried +0.1 on PLL and didn't do anything :(.

Also noteworthy, it does boot fine with 1x8gb also with either sticks so doubt it's the ram.

Flashed the bios ME to the new one, 8.1, to be safe I used a celeron so will test later with ivy bridge to see if new bios did anything :).

Going to check imc volts too if the problem persists.

The celeron also reboots with this ram 2x8gb :(.

Tried higher imc volts, didn't help. 3x4 gb worked so hopefully 4x4 will also work, and hopefully also on the 3770k. Going to try the 3770k now.

Meh I hate socket 1155, s1366 was much more flexible with ram, could merge 6 kinds of different ram sticks on that and get 24gb there no problem.

Tried various ram brands by now too: Ocz, Mushkin, Patriot and A Data.

Ok doesn't work on the 3770k.

Last 2 ram slots still don't work ( on the 3770k).
2x8 on the first slots posts but doesn't get to windows, bsod's... On both the 3770k and the celly.

Any other suggestions ? I tried IMC at 1.15... On both cpu's.

ECS, I used to build hundreds of PC's with ECS Elitegroup boards in the s478 era, they seem to be less known in Europe but they were generally solid.

I tried a diff board now an intel board also doesnt boot on the 2x8 gb, it looks like one of the A-Data 8gb sticks is faulty, I've been busy all evening testing different configurations, I got 1x8 and 1x4 in slot 2 working, so might be able to pull off 1x8 and 2x4. Though I'm in the process of mailing the seller of the 2x8 kit for a replacement.

EDIT: Meh, slot 3 and 4 don't work on the 3770k still.
On the celeron and on the 2600k no problem with slots 3 and 4.
So I'm stuck with 1x8 gb that is faulty, and the mainboard doesnt have slot 3 and 4 working on the ivy bridge cpu, but works on the sandy bridge i7 and a celeron.

tried running memtest86? try one stick at a time

also does it boot from either stick in a working ram slot? test one stick at a time

EDIT I forgot you were in the Netherlands so forgive my ignorance on the motherboard

It boots only on one stick ( but posts on both), returning the RAM now and swapping it over, hopefully will get a working kit back

Ok seems to be a cpu fault with the 3770k :(, on an Asus Sabertooth it won't boot with 4 sticks either :(. Didn't realise these things happened, have to check the cpu with all 4 ram sticks when buying!
