Ivy build

Hi guys,

I'm still on s775 with a q6600. Looking to upgrade to Ivy. I've got a 560ti and a corsair 750w PSU so I only need CPU, motherboard, RAM, CPU cooler. Budget is about 500 notes.

best spec?

Tall ram and a heatsink fan that may overhang the slots can be an issue.

Are the Antec 920/Corsair H80/H100 a better option than the current air cooling?

not really. Good air cooling is still a winner (Silver Arrow, NH-D14, Phanteks, that K2 Mount Doom).

But, the water cooling allow you for any ram, or can be an option if space in the case is limited (side panel too close).

The H100 probably got the air coolers beat, but it'll be noisier and harder to fit in some cases.

H80 / 920 around the same performance as that K2 I suppose. There's only a few degrees between all of them. I prefer air cooling for low noise and simplicity.

I could fit it into the top of my fugly case quite easily I think (HAF932?) It's just whether it's worth the premium over air coolers.
