Ivy my CPU seems good! should i delid it?

you need to test in games, thats where it will fail,it can pass ibt all day yet crash to desktop within a few minutes while gaming

once its stable and whea parity 19 warning/error free with 1.224v then I would delid, youd see 10-20c drop in load temps with coollaboratory liquid pro

@4.8ghz with 1.38v max ibt stress 5 runs I go no higher than 75c atm

I would do it then, just cut one corner and use thin piece of plastic to cut round the rest as it doesn't nik the chips pcb

remember to remove the left over sealant with your fingernail or plastic

but be carefull

What is a game doing that Intel Burn-in test cannot detect?

I don't know but im guessing at the pci bus being inside the cpu,it doesn't stress it like gaming does,it just stresses the cpu

you tend to need a lot more cpu voltage to get it game stable, thats what ive found anyway when ive been clocking mine

@vapour,the key is to use a metal blade as little as possible and let a plastic card or take away lid cut down for the rest, thats how I did mine and not one nik on the pcb

Must be a stinker for people who spend endless hours doing that then go to play a game and as you said, within a few minutes, crash.

Thats what I don't get about the option, stress the whole system. If it cannot pickup that weakness thats found within a minute or two.

Were you using max memory in IBT?

That's a top notch 3770k :D
I remember eyetrip having a similar clocking 3770k, he delidded and killed the chip :(

The differences in temperature will only start showing the higher in voltage you climb, If you've got big balls, do it.

I dont mind doing it, but ive just had a look at the cpu and i cant even get a razor blade under any part of it, its right against the CPU PCB. It seems the only way with a razor blade is to try and get under ICH but you would have to angle down which means possible PCB damage!

I did have a look at the hammer method, but what i dont get with that is if you squeeze ICH in a vice hard enough not to have the CPU ping off across the room, surely it would bend it a little, so when you come to refit the ICH its no longer flat!

Iam gona have to think about this a bit as there is no point in digging lumps out of the PCB trying to get under it with a razor blade, I also dont want to put a curve in the ICH in a vice!

I also dont want to bugger up a good CPU lol
