***IXION*** City Builder in Space

edit, they are so unratefully !! "Forced HierachicL rEATRUCTURING" i rescused all them cryopods so no one got left behind, ok i took a bit longer than they like but what happened to "no one left beind!" motto !!!

:D I inadvertently found a solution to that - because I defrosted all the cryopods too soon and didn't have enough food for them all, over 500 of my crew members starved to death in a matter of cycles. That meant I didn't have enough people to man the ship so I decided to just quit and start again.

This time round the placement of things is a lot more efficient and I'm not taking anybody out of the freezer unless I have the resources for them. I run a tight ship!

I've had a lot of my crew die in accidents so defrosting a few is helping get the working conditions under control again but I totally didn't think about how I might feed the extra 500. lol. More insects required! :D

It's a really good game if story driven city builder type games is you thing. Not sure if it's on gamepass, I just got it off Steam.

It's starting to get difficult now, can't take your attention from something for too long or it'll cost you later!

to be fair its the first game in a few years to actually capture my attention and keep it for a while. so i'm pretty happy with that.
Fallimg Frontier is my next interest waiting replease thats more legistics based/focused from, what i can tell.

I think I have Falling Frontier on my wishlist as well in Steam.

I liked the idea of this but I disliked the multiple sectors thing, I could see that being a pain to manage.

I was hoping opening a sector would just extend where you can build, but nope, it's a whole separate thing with separate people and resources and such.

Doesn't beat out Frostpunk for me as the best game of this kind!

I understand what you mean about the sectors thing but I think it encourages good layout management so you don't have to go back to other sectors unless there's a big problem. Not that I am a master at it or anything, some of my sectors are a right mess and I'm constantly changing them! You can switch to each sector quickly anyway using the sector icon at the bottom left of the HUD. I'm at 4 sectors currently and I'm just checking there's enough resources as it doesn't inform you if something has ran out or is inefficient.

Comparing it to Frostpunk is fair as I really enjoyed that game and I've done it too death, looking forward to Frostpunk 2. Something I have noticed in myself comparing the two games is that I cared more for the characters and people in Frostpunk than I do for the Oinks In Space of Ixion. So much so that I was looking for an option to jettison the useless non-workers out of the nearest EVA to save on resources :D. Should have left those darn colonists on the planet when I had the chance...

I loved Frostpunk and played all of the scenarios (inc DLC ones) on Survival mode eventually, those min/max style runs where you try to perfect the order of things and manage stuff to the bone is what made it fun for me.

With some changes I'd probably re-visit IXION but it does seem to have some silly mechanics that I could do without, the sectors would annoy me more than anything, and the non-workers don't make sense, especially if you can't have a way to train them to become workers or something.

I'll re-visit this game down the line as I like some of the ideas it brings.

this basically explains the game and some of my own gripes

i pretty much agree with most of whats been said.

i'm in 2nd system and at moment stable, 2 sectors only. not completed a run through yet.

Music is hit and mis, i but like and hate it. i think its a good fit with the game, just seems to be one track that just sort of grinds on me i think Vanir's Legacy

So I'm more than 100 hours in and still playing it and enjoying it.

I've found that there's no need to spend time getting the "perfect" layout in any available sectors early on as you'll be rearranging them often as newer technologies and upgrades become available.

I now have all 6 sectors of the Tiqqun open with plenty of space available, still tweaking though!

I've now moved on to the next solar system since the screen capture above, more exploring and following the story.

its sort of both a ship and station.
primarily a station for most part, your unlikely to move it around much at least to begin with.
if you read through the treat its a bit mixed and even online. buy it for the story.

maybe try the demo, or watch a youtube to see if its of interest.

i havent placed since my last post but thats just because of the way my home set up works, and my schedule.

Edit to ad some system specs :
i've it running on a dell optiplex 7010 i5cpu - 16gb and an Nvidia 1650LP using the original release version havent updated to latest patch yet. and it was playing very well, along with a lot of other games i've been playing. although i'm starting to think i need to upgrade. so as long as you have a relatively modern system i dont think you'll have issues.

This looks interesting. Is that a space station or a ship or sort of a cross between them? How good is the game and are there any bugs?

I agree with @Emo_hug , the Tiqqun is a cross between both. However, I do like to use it as a spaceship and travel to any planets or interesting debris that I find, as long as you have the battery power and hull integrity to do so. It's good to use the outside view while travelling between planets and objects as you get some nice views as you leave or arrive at a planet.

So far for me the game has been entirely bug-free and runs extremely well on my ageing 4790k/1080Ti-SLI system.

I've intentionally not shown any images of my Tiqqun's sectors in case of any spoilers, but if anybody wants to see them I'll spoiler tag them :D.

Ah damn, I spoke to soon about it being bug free...

Any of my saves for chapter 4 won't load including the autosaves. At least I'm only about 150 cycles down but it is a bit of a pain. I can't find fixes that have worked to bring the saves back. Some of the reasons given are undocked spaceships waiting to unload cargo. I'll start the chapter again, save and make sure I can load before going any further into the chapter.

i had one bug after returning to Sol were the mission clock went over 600 cycles and directives just werent updating, had to save close and reload for it to update, only issue i've seen thus far.
good thing you had some older saves!
