Who actually wears wrists band, most stores laugh when someone asks for one.

n00bs wear wrist bands etc. in my entire life of building pcs iv never used antistatic straps etc, just touch a radiator which is normally earthed and carry on working.

ONLY time iv had antistatic thingy on was at work, and antistatic foot strap cuz its company rules.

just kid's bigging up kid's doing what kids do, abusing things.
congrats to the kid for getting a decent card but he should have thought about his video more all though i suppose he is used to the people on you tube saying your my hero give me your card, they don't really help him much.
when i noticed the header on this topic i thought it may have been someone important returning from a long vacation or early retirement with a special lmtd edition 8800 but nope some kid who's parent bought him a new grfx card for washing the car.

:D A few years ago I was in a PC parts store and some guy came in with his son and asked to purchase a wrist band, the guys behind the counter actually laughed and told him "we dont stock or use them" lol. :p

Benjarghmin, You need to stop rubbing the 8800 PCB's against your groin area while wearing nylon panties.

You think I should go on with my 8800Ultra just to make him need wash his parents car for 6months ?

How many instances of this have you actually heard of though?

Never on this forum have I heard of people killing a piece of hardware via static electricity, and 30,000v would be enough to set the motherboard alight :p

ESD is commonly between 20,000 and 30,000V. It isn't common on these forums as most people know what they're doing, but there's no need to take unnecessary risk.

Was there any need for him to throw the cd's on the bed hard??

effect

:/

anyway, ive never killed a pc component from static. ive never worn a wrist strap either. as long as your not rubbing your fingers all over the pcb then you should be fine. to me he was simply holding the cooler and not really bridging anything he shouldnt have been.

alright i guess...

but dual monitor on a FPS looks useless/rubbish it looks so hard to see wher ** aiming at!

i would think 3 monitors would be better than u got ** centre 1 for aiming and other 2 for looking at the side of u. :p

CoD2 aint really a graphics card eater dont see y he tested the card with that.
my 7600GT runs CoD2 just fine on max with a 20" WS rez as well.

would have thort best to test it with GRAW1+2, SCDA and of course R6 Vegas like he did.

dunno why everyone is sticking it to this guy, iv learnt something from this review of his.
multimonitor gaming is crap. can;t aim at anyone since the middle of the screen has the parting in it and spoils gameplay big time.

I have dual monitors, but i don't really use them for gaming, well 1 is, but the other acts as somewhere to keep an eye on other things whilst in a game, Teamspeak, MSN, Downloads, etc.... i don't have to ALT + Tab, not to mention how useful it is for running multiple apps, windows, etc...

I did find the slapping the disks on the bed annoying, yet quite amusing that he felt the need to do it....

On the subject of static, i generally don't use a wristbad, i have one but as someone else mentioned touching a radiator is sufficient. However, everyone says they have never killed a component from static... Ok think of how many dead components you may of receieved...... but could any of those been working and died from static?... something i hadnt thought of till i started writing this reply.... and yeah it's unlikely, but still possible.
