Went to the opening of Europes biggest poker club last night

It really is a superb place

anyway the opening was a 108 player £100 buy in invite only tournament and for some reason I was invited

ended up playing for over 9 hours and got down to the last 6 ( was utterly hammered by this time )

then with 3000/6000 blinds and 800 antes I get AJ on BB ( 5 players with about 50k chips each and one huge stack ), a couple of limpers in front of me so raised to 20k, one drops out and then the other comes over the top all in , leaving me with 30k to call but about 75k in the pot so I had to call , he says "you caught me" and turns over J5

flop comes 4,6,7 and turn a 8 :mad:

and out I go

got paid £500 (I must have been the grumpiest person ever to be given £500)

since found out that 50 mins later the club had to close at 6am ( law ) and the money was split on a chip count with the last 5 getting between £1500 and £2100

not sure whether to be pleased or gutted :confused:

Unfortunately, as I'm sure you'll already be aware, whatever is purchased with this £500 will forever remind you of the terrible circumstances in which it was gained.

In order to prevent your good self from going through this torment for ever more, I'm willing to take the money off your hands and put it to good use. Probably porn.

id not be happy but at least the guy was the one trying to muscle you out of it. (albeit not the best move with only making it 30k more for his all in)

Id also be gutted about hearing the chop

Where is this poker club? I play in Southend from time to time, but there are too many people there with more money than sense, and the blind structure is quite poor.

You didnt know 5's are wild? UL mate. Took a £10 raise with 7 2 off the other night flop 72J god did I get paid the bloke had AJ, close to £500 thanks very much.

Isnt 7 2 the utter worst starting hand? I would have thought calling anything with that is suicide, you were pretty damn lucky!

7-2 is the worst hand in a multi-way pot. Heads up (ie you and another player) 3-2 is the worst hand.

7-2 unsuited can't make a straight or a flush, so is automatically weaker than most other starting hands.

Funnily enough I'm playing poker right now, cash game on party.

I had a game the other night, got dealt 9 and 7 off suit and ended up with two pairs after the flop 9,7,5. My friend went all in so I called him knowing it was a bluff, turn and river came out 3 and 4. My mate had a 6 and a Queen and hit a straight on the last card.
