Jacob Billing Returns

in another video he forgets the brand of his hardware and calls it "or some No Swearing! like that.."

how does he forget his hw brand when quite clearly he knows his brands as he's always buying branded hardware!

So you never get one of those moments where you suddenly can't recall a person's name even if you know him/her very well? His videos have very little editing and are mostly done in one take so I'd say he's done a pretty good job. If it was me making a video there will be lots of awkward silent moments accompanied by lots of "ermms" and "aahs".

I mean ffs it's just a youtube video so why don't you cut him some slack?

he has learned a lot, from when he stared. i rememebr when he was using no thermal paste on his CPU and put it on his carpet, with the static.

and atleast its not a annoying prepuberty american voice

There's a difference between "reviewing" gaming hardware in this manner, in all of this videos there's always "crap like that" or words similar to this put together into a sentence when describing something. Why do it when it's much more better to say "and these are the bundled games, cables..." etc?

All the points I have made are valid and for someone reviewing gamers hardware it's kind of boggling as to why you don't use the correct terms especially when you quite clearly know your hardware (which he does).

I think he's purposefully dumbing down the language and style of his tone in the videos (with good intentions of course) so the type of people on Youtube etc that browse his videos will better understand which is perfectly acceptable in that "field" if you will but to the rest of us it looks like an average attempt at best.

And FYI he's getting plenty of slack.

i think this is how people are taking him wrong.. he isnt reviewing hardware, he is just waving his whatsits saying look what ive got. The kid's proud of what he has proberbly worked hard to buy and wants to show it off thats all.
I mean cmon id hardly call, me and my girlfriend are going to play the first level on call of duty 4 and put these cards against each other, on ya marks GO!, first one outside gets a fiver.

He found himself a camera girl and now he is enjoying his past time and little willy wave with some one else now. If he was trying to be a serious hardware reviewer then yes i could understand all this criticizing. There are plenty of points i could sit and pick at but i dont take him seriously and more to the point he doesnt take himself too seriously which is more than can be said for most :o

Quite agree... i enjoy some light banter about his musings, and i think it is a light hearted approach from him, I quite often put myself in situations i know i will get laughed at... and what the hell... why not? :D

If he was easily offended which he clearly isnt then well done him, i dont get the 'haters' out there, but i dont get the 'dont take the mick band' either, he must know he is gonna get a few digs for his vids... which is fine so long as its not a personal attack designed to kick him down.

I'd rather have a million guys like that around than some of the chavs around that beat up ppl, like who beat up a work mate the other day for no good reason after he finished work. He wouldn't hurt a fly it seems and enjoys his stuff... let him show the world, you dont have to watch, but take the mick if its all in good fun, he obviously is enjoying it lol.. i mean come on he IS almost a legend... definately round these forums

Jacob... I salute you and all your benchmarking madness... long may it continue.... i need a laugh :p

Well I agree with that! just for the record I'm not a "hater" but I just got the impression from his videos that he's reviewing his latest purchase considering it was always a piece of gaming hardware!

yeah i guess its put up kinda like a review, but i think the motivation is purely a thingy waving, 'i'm proud of what i just got' session.

I know i always brag to mates about new kit i get even though for these forums its the norm/mid-range/or just not that special. It still makes me happy. Oh the 'haters' thing was not directed to you mate, nor anyone really just a collective, y'know what i mean :)

Older than you and unlike you I have my own opinions.

Are you sure thats not you in the Videos and thats why you love him (yourself) so much ?

Hmm you have your location as: in your mama. Excuse while I struggle to take you seriously.... and you have no way of knowing my age as it's not in my profile. Either way you write like a kid, so forgive me my impression. :)

You're taking it way, way too seriously... almost to the point of ridiculousness. He's not a professional reviewer... he's not even very knowledgeable... he's just a kid sharing his enthusiasm. Take it for what it is and stop reading too much into it!

Richdog im sorry, but you cant have seen his video's if you believe that. what he was doing in his first lot was very much a Jacob-teaches-the-public affair, and it was awfully inaccurate which is what gained him the statue he now has - a laughing stock.

nobody has problems with people making videos but when they are so wrong, so cocky as well, well you know how peopel are going to react:)

I've seen all his videos James and I stand by my opinion... it's a complete laugh, and I have full respect for the guy for doing them. I think anyone who gets genuinely offended by them enough to start slating him really needs their heads checking, or hasn't got a particularly easygoing character. :)

That was when he videoed taking off the stock HSF to 'see how the thermal paste was getting on'.

Loved that. I think i missed his very first vid when he reviewed Quake4, when there were some classic quotes.

I do agree that he now has an air of confidence/cockiness in his newer videos, but i think it adds to the intrigue that is Jacob Billing.

I say keep the videos coming, would like to see what he would say if he got a 3870X2 or 9800GX2, would probably explode at the fact they have 2 cores on them.

Worlds away from his good old 8600GT.

I think the problem is that he doesn't actually know anyone good with hardware, so has a slightly false sense of confidence about his own abilities. This only makes it better though. :D
