Hi guys, im going nuts over this bug in the workshop. 2 guards are supposed to burst through a door and then fight me. For me and a lot of other people the guards just get stuck and so i cannot get past this part and i cannot progress through the game. The bug has been known about for 2 years but bioware hasnt lifted a finger to fix it. Instead they suggest lowering your resolution, this works for SOME people but it does not work for me.

My original thread:

Can someone with jade empire please download my save, get past this part and then reupload the save?

I would REALLY appreciate it!

I FINALLY GOT IT TO WORK!

I simply went to the steam folder and right clicked JadeEmpire.exe i chose compatibility mode windows vista service pack 2. Loaded the save and VOILA it worked.

I just reloaded the save and tried again, it did not work. GREAT it is totally random whether it works or not =/

please note i spent 4 hours on this problem, not just to find a fix but to find the source of the problem: ****ty programming ported crap.

Solution is in the forum thread above.

Ported games are hell, but they make you glad to be a PC user because you get to see just how awful console games really are (Resident Evil 5, Devil May Cry 4, etc.)

Having said that, I really enjoyed Jade Empire. Kept me busy for a long time and felt great when I finally completed it. My only gripe is the lack of replay value.

Enjoyed both of those myself, and even if you don't personally like them, that attitude is exactly why many console users see PC users as elitist snobs.

If you enjoy games with shockingly bad interfaces and sluggish controls; games which treat you like an idiot by pointing out the obvious every five seconds and force you to wrestle with a million menus just to get the simplest thing done; games with plodding, predictable linearity; games with minimal mouse support or none whatsoever, then fair play to you. It's just not my idea of value for money. As a PC user, I'm accustomed to a far superior product.

Jade Empire was a refreshing exception to the rule.

I know you only listed two examples, but controls wise, they were both spot on for me - Res 5 with kb/mouse, DMC4 with a pad (who cares about mouse support in a game that is an arcade/action/beat-em-up?). Plot wise, yeah, neither is exactly award winning stuff, but they're action games. I can find enjoyment in a deep story led game, or one that is about fast paced fun.

As for Jade Empire being an exception to the rule (and I do think it's a great game), you cite that as the exception to the quality rule when it does seem to be plagued with compatibility problems and issues for the PC conversion, that the Capcom games don't suffer with.

As a PC user, I'm accustomed to a far superior product.

I actually find that quite amusing. As a PC user myself, for years now I unfortunately have come to expect buggy releases that have to be patched - issues that traditionally never really happened on console (though that is changing with them having net access these days).
