Jade empire

do u need gamepad for this game?

Best played with it IMO.

I owned the Xbox version, played it over and over with all the characters and played as both side of the "hands" (Open Palm/Closed Fist)

It's good fun, you are in control to how you fight in real-time, something different to the usual D&D click and attack type - decent storyline too...

Not sure about owning it on a PC just for a few more stances and looks... but that's just me, I'm slowly falling into the shadows of "I don't have enough time to game".

Definitely getting this, but not just yet as I haven't finished KOTOR2 and I don't want to leave too many RPGs unfinished... still have Bard's Tale, VTM:Bloodlines and Morrowind characters suspended in limbo as well!:D

I also plan to buy it direct from Bioware's online shop, for no other reason that I think they should be getting the bulk of the money I'm spending for the game rather than the few pennies that are left after the retailer and distributor have taken their cuts, and I encourage everyone to do the same.

Debating whether to get this.

By favourite RPG has to be the Baldur's Gate series. Is Jade Empire anywhere near as big and can you wander off anywhere you like rather than have to go from a to b to c?

KOTOR is my fave game of all time, will I love this?
You should certainly *like* it, as it follows a similar path like KOTOR, you have a reasonably limited amount of free roaming, but you have light/dark style stuff, as well as other things.

It's a little less free roaming as KOTOR, which wasn't exactly the most free roaming game to begin with. There are some very linear in terms of path things to do, however there are plenty of city / quest roaming areas about the game to keep you occupied from the main story in the main areas.

Anyone picked it up yet? The US and a few online retailers state that is comes with an art book and poster, but not all retailers state it. Is it standard with the game?

I've just been to my friendly neighbourhood competitor, whose online department claims to have the art book and poster. They do, and its in a steelbook which is common on Xbox 360 special edition cases. Shame its twice the price as they have it online as I have plenty of vouchers for them.

Another company online claims to do it with the art book much cheaper, but for a limited time. Might as well get it now just in case.
