Jags & Jags ...has anyone here ever owned or lived with a Jaguar XJ6 X300 (1994-1997)

Looks good, was going to chip in and say the only x300s worth bothering with now are the XJR6 - I nearly bought one before getting my GTR.

How much less do the x350s weigh than the x308 XJR I have?

Hope you're happy with this one anyway mate.

Should be the middle of next week, the sales guy is going to phone me Monday to let me know for sure. It depends on when it gets out of the bodyshop.

Today is the day, in fact 14:30 approaches which means I have to get up from this desk and go and collect my carriage :D

I can't tell you how much I am looking forward to being back in a big Jag. I expected to end up in an X308 given the fact I cut my budget right down, but that's not the case ...the X350 looms large :D ...very large actually, 5.1 meters of large!

/emote hops about like a kid.

Do not want :(

I assume you dont approve of the idea of an XJ8 4.2 in my case either then? :p

Looks nice to me, Moeks. :) Although i personally wouldnt have bought one without all of the options, especially nav which i see as an absolute deal breaker on a luxury car...

I had the pleasure of one this weekend and was underwhelmed. Felt quite flimsey inside, door bins not carpeted etc, did not appear to be wearing well. I don't know what year it was as it was on a private plate but it had modern looking led rear lights and despite its use as a limo had just 20k on it.

Don't get me wrong it was nice, but nice in a Jaguar way not as an S class rival.

The killer for me at the moment is the ford-esque mini climate control screen and what looks to be a rather outdated console system. I would rather have hoped to have the climate control integrated. I do not like the sound of sloppy finishes, that and very basic fundamental touches which i would have assumed would be par for the course such as carpetted door bins!

The door bins might have been leather lined but if they were it wasn't very good as they felt unlined to me. Climate screen looked borrowed from an early 90s Nissan.

Im not seeing the sloppy finishes inside, maybe on an X or S type but those XJ's are every bit as well screwed together as Mercs and BMW's, thats even allowing for my Jag tinted specs.

Its pleasing that Fox doesn't want one, otherwise we would have to put up with 4 years of uncontrolable XJ posting (think of a sex starved jack russell humping somoenes leg and you get the idea), its enough to put you off the car.

:p

This one wasn't. I guess it would help if I knew what model it was, perhaps it was a pre 2002 model? It had modern looking lights, though...

I don't think I can ever imagine myself caring about how a doorbin is lined. No offence meant, I just can't think that I'll ever care about that.

You drive an original Mini. It's unlikely you'll be able to relate to matters of fit and finish in luxury saloon cars :p

It's indicative of the level of attention to detail in the cabin - and attention to detail in the cabin is one of the most important attributes of a luxury saloon. Because if interior quality didn't matter you'd buy a Passat or something for half the price.
