No, I mentioned that the display in the Discovery is the same, and that's not a HUD. It's just a decent modern display, as I expect is the same in other parts of the JLR range, and it doesn't play nice with polarised glasses, nor does the HUD, nor does the climate panel showing the temp. It was the same in the M5 too.

Isn't the 981 like 8 years old now? Not kicking the latest in screen tech, although as I say, the M5 was 63plate LCI and both HUD and CC panel were poor when wearing polarising sunnies.

re: polarized glasses looks like the mini is bipolar ... and teslas no issue -
but issue can be insoluble, if, in car displays are, best, polarized vertical for w/o glasses viewing,
but, that, naturally conflicts with outdoor glasses, always horizontally polarized.

My Mini Cooper has two polarized LCD displays. The one behind the steering wheel is oriented so that my sunglasses are no problem, but the clock and odometer in the center display require me to tilt my head over to see them. I can't figure out for the life of me why they'd install them that way.

And yet, as @jpaul points out, other manufacturers seem to manage OK. As I said, no problem in any of my cars (Ranger, Mini and Boxster). 3 cars, 3 manufacturers, all work fine with polarised lenses. All of my BMWs were fine although the HUD was very faint in the 6 series with polarised lenses.

My Evoque is okay on cluster screen, just the main screen has a rainbow effect. Not sure how the older screens fair, Evoque and velar have the next generation of screen to disco and e pace etc. Much deeper blacks.
