What would reliability be like on say a £2.5k - £3k '01ish reg jag?

Do you go down the same route as buying a mondeo? Is there anything different to look out for?

Much the same as an 01ish registered Mondeo really, all the mechanics are mostly the same. Rear subframe bushes, potential injector/DMF issues on the diesels (Dad had an injector go on his old one, was a company car so the lease company sorted it - you dont want to know how much a main Jag dealer charged for replacing a single injector!!)
 
Nearly bought a 3.0 V6 AWD one. I'd personally avoid AWD if possible as the transfer boxes can go, and when they do go (not if), you're looking at a pretty large garage bill. This put me off the car somewhat.

I like them - my dad has a 2.2 derv wagon which has been good (if required a few niggles sorted by Jaguar).
 
I bought a 52reg 3.0se (Auto) in march this year has been great so far had no problems with it at all, I haven't noticed any rust on mine yet and from what I have read on Jag forums the X is only prone to it just by the rear number plate.

Interior Wise apart from one annoying vent not fitting properly due to the heat from the CC the rest seems well put together.
