Slopping out is a real practice that still goes on, I personally think it was decided wrongly and the test case (Robert Napier) should have been thrown out as a matter of public policy but that is neither here nor there now.

As for the original article, it pains me to read the Record but goshdarnit if I don't feel so proud of Dundee right now, that entrepreneurial spirit to take money gifted to you for your time in jail and use it to deal drugs so you can go straight back to jail. Genius.
 
i expected the slopping out stuff was real, i just ddint expect people could seriously claim compo for it.

thats what i thought at first!

<edit> a cursory glance at wiki suggests that this "slopping out" is where the poop-buckets are emptied in the morning because the inmates can't be trusted with porcelain loo's and the prison can't afford metal ones...

why do the prisoners deserve compensation in ANY way for this?
