Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson

I'm honestly shocked at how many people got duped into thinking an almost 60 year old man, who was washed up in boxing before he retired in 2005

Father time is undefeated and you can't defy biology. It was always going to be a glorified spar but both of them have made bank and fair play to them.

Tyson, for all his faults, deserved a payday after getting robbed blind by DK.

He was haviing blood transfusions the week before and had been spending time in a wheelchair...and that showed in the ring as he had no legs.

It's a disgrace that this was even sanctioned.

As a regular listener to Talksport while at work, I have to laugh at apologists and hypers of this rubbish like Spencer Oliver, who seem to think this debacle and others like it are "good for boxing" because "more eyes are on the sport" etc and that will lead to greater interest in boxing particularly with Gen X and Zer's, I doubt that, because they didn't even see boxing, and their only interest is the influencers, and that will continue - in 20 years, the likes of Spencer Oliver might want to takew into consideration the idea, that this is actually fuelling a rival to traditional boxing - the "fighting" freakshow. Bread and circuses - social media isn't going away it is dominating every facet of life.

So be careful what you wish for, MMA has already impacted Boxing, and if these farces are allowed to continue (how can they be stopped?) then it's only going to make real boxing seem to an ever increasing demographic who live vicariouisly through SM, as irrellevant. I think there's a lot of people shilling for this rubbish who should know better ands they're taking the bag without any thought to the ramifications for the future of the sport.

I don't beleive long-term is this going to be good for boxing IMO, it's been a long long time since boxings heyday (at least in my lifetime) with the Fantastic/Fabulous four Leonard, Duran, Hearns and Hagler in the 80s, and prime Lennox and Tyson would have wiped the floor with today's current crop of heavweights, and most would argue that boxings heyday came even before that group.

The overreaction to this fight is insane. It’s a gimmick fight. It wasn’t the first and it won’t be the last. Did Ali fight a sumo wrestler or something?

At the end of the day boxing is prize fighting. The two of them somehow tricked Netflix out of tonnes of money, I kinda respect it.

Social media/Misfits boxing is not going to kill boxing. Boxing is going to kill boxing due to the stupid alphabet belt politics, promoter politics, the best not fighting the best when they’re at their peaks and just the general lawlessness or drug use.

If boxing wants to kill itself it already has all the tools at its disposal. Jake Paul is not going to be the harbinger of boxing.
