James Blunt

I just find his music incredibly dull and completely uninteresting, if i want to listen to something quite slow and with feeling i'll just throw some Cure on, or some jerry cantrell.

I have a certain amount of respect for the bloke though as he does appear to be able to play some musical instruments, and appears to be able to write song's (don't think they are much cop, but at least he writes them) mabye if it wasn't him with his highly irritating voice singing them then mabye i'd only dislike the songs, instead of wanting to die when i hear them.

I found the first song annoying, and the next one sounded the same. They were ok though and by Goodbye my lover i listened to the whole album, of which some of the songs are quite catchy.

But I know what you mean they all are starting to get a bit droll.

His stuff reminds me of Damien Rice, though the other half doesnt like DR  to me they fall in the same category.

Suprisingly I have found that his music has grown on me (largely due to his album being repeatedly inflicted on me by the gf). I'm sure there are better singer-songwriters out there he just haven't got as much acclaim yet, but damnit, it's annoying when people keep telling you that whenever his name is brought up "yeah yeah man James Blunt is rubbish XX YY ZZ is sooooo much better".

However, supposedly I have been bought a ticket to watch him on July 1 at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, at 18:30.

SATURDAY 1 JULY

Quarter-Final Three:
Winner Game Three v Winner Game Four
1600, Gelsenkirchen

Game Three:
Winner Group B v Runner-up Group A

So that'd be England, then.

About time she started looking for someone else to drag along, I would have thought...

What really annoys me is the amount of sheep at work (who are aged 40+) who think that JB , Powter, Chris Martin et al are good singers because they're on the radio.

Thick people associate success with quality. I know some tremendous singers, but they're unlikely to appear on the radio. Can the amoebas at work understand that?

No.

I hate the fact that JB and CM cannot sing for toffee in a live setting.

I hate the fact that they're silver-spoon-in-mouth public schoolboys.

I can't abide their pretentiousness.

I never thought that I'd say this in a million years but I wish that JB and CM would wake up one morning to find Chuck Norris' foot arcing rapidly towards their faces.

That's fine! I have no problem with people who have never liked his music, it's the sheep who change their minds because everyone else has that annoy me.

My dislike of the man has very little to do with what anyone else thinks. When I first heard one of his songs played on the radio I found it bland and inoffensive albeit a bit maudlin and dull(the same applies with every first listen of his songs) but then after the 357th time in about a week it was really starting to grate and the situation has got no better since then as he is still remarkably overplayed. I can't say he has a lack of talent as I am hopeless at music myself but his songs just do not appeal or in any way strike a chord with me. Good luck to the man, he has done really well out of his albulm but if I never heard him again I can't say I would mourn the loss.

oh god i had to listen to this whiny trout for the duration of a 2 hour car journey a few weeks ago.

Driver: "you like James Blunt?"
Me: "yeah, except for him and his songs, he seems ok"
Driver: "I just like his lyrics, they're really deep, y'know"
Me: "no. no i really don't know. his lyrics are not deep, he has no sense of rhythm or music in general and has the most annoying voice in music since Axl Rose"
Driver: "who's Axl Rose?"
Me: "Go back to sleep"

saw him on Saturday Night Live (hosted by Dane Cook :D) and he has a stupid talking voice as well, so at least he's not putting on a tormented singing voice. that would make him worse

It may be sad to say, but I think Back to Bedlam is one of the best albums out at the moment, been listening to it all the time, and every track on there is well written, and he performs it well.

Ive got his 'live' DVD which he did for the BBC and that is excellent, he has got talent, he can play the piano, guitar, and writes his own lyrics and can actually sing live which can be more than said for a lot of artists out there these days.

I like him, he's not my favourite artists by any means, but "You're Beautiful" and "High" are the two that stand out for me.

"Goodbye My Lover" is a good song, decent lyrics and a bit of emotion, but, it shouldn't of been released as a single, it simply doesn't work on the radio in between Chris Moyle's jingles and The Artic Monkeys.

It belongs on the album for people playing it in their empty house, after bunging a chicken dinner for one in the microwave.

Fixed. Even if you like him, there's no possible way his album could be one of the best out at the moment :p
