James Bond Thread (Denis Villeneuve to direct Bond 26)

Everyone knows the 1st amazon production set in the bond universe will be called Moneypenny and will show how she's the true superspy, kicking ass, taking names and protecting the world from global destruction, all whilst being just a 'secretary'..
This is apparently one of the things they were considering

Maybe stick Hunter Schafer in the role for some believable girl bossing in fights against dudes.

I’m watching mad men for the 4th time. The 60s vibe, fashion, attitudes etc are incredibly strong. You also have all the on-going fear of the “bomb” Cuban crisis and just generally the Russians being a classic bad guy. You could absolutely bring bond back to this era and move away from being a smaller budget mission impossible movie.

We can but hope.

Not been a fan of Craig era bond and I don't see any reason Amazon should be a worse caretaker of the series than any other soulless corporation. Maybe it'll be good, and maybe I want bother watching it.

I'd like them to either bring back the fun of Moore and Connery era bond or lean into what a truly unpleasant character book Bond is. I expect they'll do neither.

The only guarantee is a bondverse and that no regular villain is allowed. All must somehow be an evil family member.

Setting it in the past would give them the best chance of keeping some of what makes Bond what it is, without having to turn it into some sort of charade.

I doubt they will though, will probably play it safe by trying to make some sort of Bourne knock-off which will be very forgettable.

"Given the fact that Nolan has expressed strong desire in the past to direct James Bond and also given the enormous investment Amazon has made in this IP, they should start with Nolan and only Nolan, and do whatever they can – within reason, which is very fluid in our business – to make it work,” a second film producer told TheWrap. “I suspect that they will and I also suspect that there is strong mutual desire to make it happen.”

Would be good if they could get Nolan

001 the origins (M or Q)
002 why Moneypenny ended up driving a desk
etc
etc
There is mileage for other agents that could tie in timelines etc but you just know its going to be ridden like Red Rum and monetised to hell and back with all kinds of compromises through the characters/storylines.

I guess we will find out what a neutered James Bond will be because the first Amazon meeting about Bond will be called ( how to make Bond suitable for a younger audience and offend nobody ever )

Inside the Amazon meeting right now they are talking about:

Jamelia Bond, pink haired super sleuth attending diversity high.

She's a teen spy with an entourage that gets just as much screen time as she does. She spends her days 'fighting injustice and calling out intolerance'.
First episode someone in the cafeteria introduces themselves "last name, First name, last name".
Jamelia mocks them of course, "who speaks like that." Letting us all know she's better than the bond we know and there won't be any of those trademark lines and mannerisms in this show.
She seems like a bully at first glance, but it's okay, the target of her mocking is a CIS white male athletic type, so mocking him isn't stepping over any lines, also his dad is villain of the week.

Oh, she's American. The villain is British. And let's make it animated, the janky 3D CGI kind.

:D

This is all exaggerated and tongue in cheek of course. Maybe Amazon will hire decent staff and cast and knock it out the park.

Or maybe they will read your post and steal you idea because their production team came up with nothing.

Hope not though, because when it fails and it would fail, you would have killed James Bond.:D
