Also, how cool is Leonardo on the BBC world cup panel? Such an erudite and articulate bloke, makes a nice change from Merk Lerensern.

Did you see a clip of the BBC pundits doing kick-ups? Leonardo was doing all his skills, flicking it up, catching it between his shoulders, flicking it back up again etc... he then flicked it to Ian Wright who controlled it with one touch and then volleyed it miles away in the "'ave it!!" style. :p

LOL yeah that was funny

You're not the only one :p

JJ Okocha is possibly worse though.. he can barely speak English, and when he does, it sounds like he's stoned out of his mind.

"whay yehersss"

LOL yeh cant believe ITV had that muppet on their WC games, funny guy though:p....loved the way he sat in the chair...like he didnt really care...so laidback :p

Leonardo on BBC is brilliant though and i have to say Desailly isnt too bad himself...at least they can have a joke but Jay Jay is useless tbh.

leonardo is excellent but they respect him too much and the other pundits aren't themselves. itv have such useless ones, venables, pearce, big sam , gullit - awful. desailly is not much better though in my opinion - there always seems to be tension between him and martin o'neill, which arises out of the language problems i think.

Richardson is quality, he was hilarious on Football Italia, always alluding to match fixing and the various other scandals that are Italian Football. Very clever chap but not arrogant or condescending like most of the chumps on the BBC.

Saying that the Beeb have done will with O'Neill and Leonardo. O'Neill seems to relish being able to spraff away without having every word analysed or sensationalised, Leonardo knows his stuff and is quite sharp with it. Shame about Wright and Hansen, muppets.

There's something about the BBC 'studio' design that is so much more inviting and easier to watch and ITVs offerings. There's more banter between the pundits on the BBC, more discussion, on ITV they just line them up one by one, I reckon if Stuart Pearce was on the Beeb he'd be a hell of a lot more interesting than he is on ITV.

But generally speaking, BBC always have better pundits (Lawro included), ITV for some reason hire planks like Stokie Earle, Boring Townsend, and err Clive Allen.

Lineker might be fast trying to look like Dale Winton, but him and Adrian Chiles are ace to watch.

Yeah Richardson was great, I remember watching Football Italia in the morning, the start went something like - Gooaaaaaaaaaaaaaal Laziooooooooo. haha. They still do Football Italia though don't they? It's on Bravo I think.

Leonardo is a fairly good presenter, he is awesome with the keepie uppies too. JFH on ITV is not too bad either.

James Richardson is the single best football presenter I've had the pleasure of watching. The jokes he makes as was mentioned previously in the thread bring a smile to your face while you're given sensible facts unlkie (obviously) Football Focus.

As for the BBC-ITV thing, I can't bear to watch the build-up or listen to the commentary on ITV and I've found BBC to be much more poor than they normally are - thank God they've got Leonardo to keep things sensible. O'Neill seems like he's constantly on his period.

James Richardson = Legend. So easy to listen to and comes out with some very subtle witty comments :D

Was sad when Football Italia stopped on C4, it was great news when he moved to Eurosport and when they brought back Gazzetta on Bravo.

Also, are ITV seriously suggesting they couldn't find a better expert summariser than Gareth Soutgate?? ITV, if your intention was to bore your viewers to sleep with his monotone and morose tone, then congratulations, you've suceeded. Bring back Big Ron!

James Richardson is better than the other pundits mentioned in this thread because he never played the game. Most of the other pundits do not want to say anything that might upset there mates. He can take the mickey and if the players don't like it then so what. I hope he ends up mainstream.

I don't. Mainstream would ruin him - ITV or the BBC might not give him the same scope and control other channels do.

Maybe he has had offers before, but simply enjoys sunning it up in Italy earning a decent wage watching football every weekend and presenting a show once a week. :o
