What's peoples thoughts on Jamies range of food products, is he simply cashing in on his name or trying to make supermarket food better?

I only ask beacause for lunch yesterday i picked up one of his packs of Cured Pink Salt Beef: (British silverside beef, scored, cured, cooked then roasted with english mustand - until perfectly pink).

And it tastes epic for pre packed meat, £2.79 for 5 small slices but its full of so much win.

Anyone tryed any of his products, what are your thoughts?

A bit of both.

From what I've eaten, seen and read about, some are genuinely new products sourced from small manufacturers and created solely for his range and the rest are new-ish product lines from established manufacturers and suppliers where JO has had some input into the creative and manufacturing processes, in order for them to meet the standards one would expect from his brand.

You could say it's cashing in, but I've got absolutely no problem with him reaping the rewards for the reputation he's built up, as he's done some brilliant work for the food industry and deserves all the success he works so hard at achieving.

I've not tried many of the meat products, but his Amazing Tomato and Mozzarella Caramelle seems to always find a place in my fridge.
 
This one product has left me with a good impression, will try some of his other stuff and see what the score is, i think he's gone a bit OTT with his personality but if that sells then more power to him.
 
There's definitely been a recent surge in 'chefy' brands finding their way into supermarkets, but from what I've seen thus far the JO selection does appear to be a cut above the rest. My local Tesco seems to have a fair bit on the offer shelves when I traipse round there late at night, so I've picked up one or two things on the off-chance.

Just don't try the Italian Potato Gnocchi - it's bloody disgusting.
 
What I have had has been good. It's not cheap, but the quality is good enough to make it reasonable value for money IMO.

I've had:
spaghetti (was nice but hard to tell if nicer than cheap stuff)
pesto - nicer than others
pancetta - really tasty and decent price
fish fingers - MUCH better than birds eye

I'll definitely be trying more of the frozen fish stuff
 
All sounds rather positive for JO then, i'm going to give the fishfingers a whirl, even the most expensive birdseye ones suck ourdays so will be nice to bring the good old fishfinger butty back up to form.
 
I have to say I'm a big fan off his food, have got a couple of his books and everything I make from them tastes great, which is amazing since I cooked it. Will have to give his pre-made stuff a go.

I love gnocchi. One of my favourite comfort foods and something I'll happily while away a few hours making at the weekend if I can be bothered - and failing that I'll ask my nice Italian friend to knock me up a batch if I can't.

A good gnocchi should be like a little plump pillow of potato loveliness. Jamie's Italian Potato Gnocchi is absolutely foul - it tastes like pellets of sweetened Smash and is nothing like how I consider a good gnocchi ought to be.
