Japan, when to go?

I've been planning for a while to spend two weeks in Tokyo and Kyoto in September with my brother.

Obviously what with all that's gone on do you think it would still be wise to stick to our plans or to delay?

If you would wait, how long would you leave before you think its OK?

I'd just go.

Tokyo and Kyoto are still quite warm in Sept-Oct too.

Im going on Sunday coming, check Japan-Guide travel reports. Most of Japan is fine, just avoid the North East area.

Go and avoid the damaged areas. They're not e.g. the USA/N Orleans; in September they may have rebuilt significant amounts of it.

A friend was due to go to the west coast last week, and the tour company cancelled a few days before. They haven't scheduled any more tours there yet.
