Japanese Grand Prix 2012, Suzuka - Race 15/20

Surely if given the notice they can test the wing themselves, determine if it will fail the new test themselves, if so, put on the backup wing that won't fail, and rework the dodgy wing to pass the new test and maybe have it for the next race. Lose the advantage for a race, sure, but if you can come up with something that gives an edge for 3-4 races, then you just get pushed back in with everyone else, you don't get caught, and 3-4 races can easily end up the difference between a win and a loss.

Bah, I'm against cheating no matter the team, but they really need to find a way to test this stuff with the car under load, in use. Though I can understand why that would be very very difficult. Potentially a ridiculously high fps super high def cam used to take video comparison around a high speed, a low speed corner and a high speed straight. It's probably not particularly possible in practice but, we could all see the RBR wing bouncing around more than anyone elses wing like crazy when the car was in motion but passed the stupid tests easily.

Maybe we need some kind of situation where they have to keep wings they use in previous races and if they fail new tests they can lose points, which would make the risk/reward of cheating at all not worth it? I dunno, just dislike this you can cheat as long as the tests don't catch it mentality... then again everyone is at it.

Haven't heard what notice the teams have had, it would be a bit underhand to move the goal posts at such short notice, as the rules only state that it has to pass the test (as we all know from RB in the last few years where you could clearly see the wing moving but was legal (no problem with that)).

Its really just poor testing by the FIA but guess its not particularly easy job to say the least.

Pretty good qually session, albeit with some unexpected results. Merc very slow, thought they would go fairly well here. Red Bull back with some epic pace, but Sauber popping up there once again as well!

Not good for Hamiltons WDC chances unless there is a tangle up front. He has gone wrong somewhere with the set up, but will benefit him in the race though?

A 2011 special with Vettel running off into the distance and everyone else just having their own fight.

The tyres could be an issue here (with the new surface), they were graining a lot on Friday for some teams.

Alonso's consistency has really come to an end and well timed boost by Red Bull now give them a straight fight, assuming that Ferrari can bring some pace soon.

Shame JB couldn't get past Kobi and they both got done by Massa after being held up behind the Toro Rosso.

Hamilton got some useful points but is still out of touch really.
