My favourite shot in the movie (and boy were there lots) was the one of Jamie Foxx and Jake Gyllenhaal silhouetted at the top of the sand dune with the sunset in the background. The oil fires were a close second too - it looked unbelievably hellish. I thought the horse scene was good as well, again it just added further depth and didn't need explained away, much like Troy's death etc.

I don't think Oscar nominations are an exaggeration either - Gyllenhaal and Saarsgard were absolutely superb imo.

I want to see Brokeback Mountain now, if Jake's performance is anything like that good in that it could be another awesome movie.

Glad to hear it. I've only seen him in Donnie Darko and thought it was excellent in that, so I'm looking forward to seeing this movie (even if the title is awful :p).

Yea, but you must not have seen the bit at the end where the woman speaks to the camera. Because, that was he motivation for that

Yeh i saw it but still, to be in that exact situation. All your mates around you, watching your wife with another guy. Not nice.

Saw this over the weekend. Totally agree with what everyone says. Supurb film, Great actor. Some of the scenes in it are just awesome, so powerfully done. The scene with the campfire was so well done. also I was so surprised to see a friendly fire in a US film!!!! what a refreshing change. 9.5/10 from me, the best film I've seen for a long time.

saw this last week, was a good film, although i cant help it could have been a little bit better, didnt quite have the WOW factor

was still a good and interesting watch though.

saw the film..bit dissapointing despite a promising opening sequence.

agree cinematography was good.

reminded me of full metal jacket /platoon but didn't offer any more than what these 2 films had already accomplished.

Should have been longer, and explored the characters and beefed up the story a little more. Seemed like it had a lot to say but not enough time to say it. Jake Gyllenhaal (sp?) was great though, he's a good actor.

Some of the camera work and special effects were amazing...

SPOILER******

Hightlight below.

Really sad bit with the horse turning up in the middle of the oilfield.

Brilliant film, hard to believe Mendes wasn't nominated for an Oscar because his directing was amazing. I thought the story was excellent and the characters were very well played. Definitely in the top 3 of modern war movies with FMJ and Apocalypse Now. I think I'll watch it again tonight. 8.5/10
