Hello all!
Thought it was about time I gave you all an update on how Jay is getting on.
I believe the last time I did an update it was just before our summer holiday, we all had a great time, there are so many things to do are Sherwood forest / Nottingham – would definitely go back again ! we had a go at archery, loads of walks a bike rides, went to American adventure, strange place a bit run down but still good ?! Unfortunately Lewis was about a mm to short for the ‘bigger’ rides, but we all still had a great day! Lewis set off the lift alarm when we went to a local hospital to have jays blood done – arriving at the ground floor with an alarm going, and us trying to leave as unsuspiciously as possible (with Lewis and Jay cracking up !).

We’ve made it upto santa pod a few times, missing seeing nitro junky(maybe next year !), but eventually meeting up with IainB, one of his SEUK friends did a Macmillan coffee morning up there so we came along to help(well OK not so much help more attend and drink coffee and the boys tested the cake !!, and insanerons motor home (which, now we have got to own one !!) they held a raffle that we won a load of prizes on !!. one of the prizes was flame & thunder tickets so we had our last visit of the year to the pod then.

Ron had sorted a well unique pressie for Jay – a one-off drawing of the 2006 street eliminator cars – we received it this week, so we’ve wrapped it up – we’ll see it tomorrow!! (I’ll post a pic!)

The vast majority of the time jay has been very well, still doing well at school, but the last three weeks he’s had ‘something’ it hasn’t been bad with him, he hasn’t been to school for three weeks, but he did go in most of the last week, to see his mates before Christmas !, he’s had various blood tests and cultures done and been to Kettering and Leicester a few times(much to his delight !), but haven’t really come back with anything, their last idea was it could be parvo (slapped cheek) it’s more common in dogs, so we were thinking of getting him a lead for crimbo !!, if it is that, it’s not a problem jay has to work it out of him and he’ll probably need a few transfusions, they reckon it’d take a few months.

Beginning of December it was the Leicester Christmas party, we had a great time plenty cake !, saw santa and a lady made some balloons into a aeroplane for Lewis and a laser gun for jay so they spent most of the time blasting round with those !. Just a normal party you’d never have thought all the kids there made a cancer of some sort and been through a hell of a lot – quite humbling really.

That’s about it for now, I’ll post a pic of the poster ASAP !

Merry Christmas to you all :)

For those new to our story, the basic outline is our eldest son (Jay 7, well very nearly 8!)) was diagnosed with leukaemia this time two years ( 5th dec ’04 to be precise), the last thread and details are
here

Following that, started off by *mighty nimrod*, with the help of *freefaller*, and the true greatness of this forum a collection was started, the thread and details are here, and also made the local front page!!

*IainB* also came up with a fantastic and truly unique treat for Jay, he has organised a trip out in a street eliminator car on a cruise!!!, Jay hasn’t had the ride yet ( it’s taking quite some effort to talk him into going in one of these monsters!!), although we have met a few of the guys, colin lazenby, the owners of the 2005 champions have sorted him a sit in and ride when he feels brave enough + gave him a sticker, key ring and copy of ‘Street Machine’ that features their car.
And also ray cromer has offered a sit and ride, and has given him a team T-shirt (his favourit T-shirt BTW) and is also trying to sort a replica model of his car!

Sounds like he's doing well and I'm glad he's generally sticking it out at school. :)

Hope you and you're family have a great Christmas together! :D

You must be so rpoud that such a young child can be so strong.

I've been following your story from the outset and it's a nice surprise to see this thread on Christmas Eve. It seems things are getting better, I hope they manage to nail down exactly what this bug is. Have a very happy Christmas and new year.
