how do you set up jbod? is it worthwhile performance wise? i have two seagates an 80gb and a 160gb. would the drives need to be formatted first?

JBOD = Just a bunch of disks. You'ld just be spanning a single logical disk across two normal disks which is, frankly, a little pointless. Only do it if you really need the space all in one partition, which I doubt you do. Google it - read up about it. It should tell you everything you need.
