Normal trousers are the next step from jeans. Go to River Island/Top Man/the pub and you'll see what people are wearing.

Although RI/TM aren't great quality.

i wear a few different jeans;

hugo boss, next, levis, tommy hilfiger, fcuk, ysl.

levi's make good jeans, and can be cheap in some places.
