Hi all,

I've a Jeantech JN120F-600AP12v2 PSU and I woke up this morning and noticed it sounded really rough. Had it apart tonight after work, cleared all the dust out and although it doesn't sound as bad, it's still too loud.

It appears to just be wired directly into the PSU cabling so no easy replacement.

Would just buying a replacement fan, cutting and soldering/taping the wires be acceptable? Any suggestions on replacements or just a cheap one from here?

I believe its a 120mm fan that i need.

This PSU has been running in this case for over 4 years pretty much 24/7 and never had a single issue with it. I know the rep that they have but I can't fault it and I'm not going to blow £100+ on a new one when a fan can be put in for a tenner :p

It's already lasted longer than the £200 model that I had in before it.

However, once the new office is built and I need to move everything down, I am going to look at some sort of custom case/desk build and then i'll be looking at new PSU, color coding and water cooling. :)

I have to admit that when I first started builing pc's many years ago back when I knew very little, my first psu was a Jeantech with a pair of 80mm fans. Since then I have had Hiper (uggghhhh), Enermax OCZ and a Seasonic die on me, some of them spectaculrly (Hiper) yet the Jeantech is still going strong. It's reverted to testing and loop bleeding now and is rather loud but it still works. It also weighs a ton which is a good sign. Cheap psu's usually weigh next to nothing.
