So I bought the Jedi Knight collection (Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith, Star Wars: Dark Forces) in the recent steam sales, i've googled but can't find the order in which they should be played. Can someone help me out :D

All my googled results bring up something about order 66 :)

Dark Forces
Dark Forces 2
Mysteries of the Sith
Jedi Outcast
Jedi Academy

One thing to bear in mind is that JO/JA use the Q3 engine so will look a lot better than the rest. There isn't any continuity iirc so I would start off with JO then JA.

Personally I preferred JA to JO as there are some pseudo-RPG elements (choosing skills, weapons, missions etc) and it doesn't take as long to get going. Arguably a better storyline in JO though.

Dark forces, dark forces II , mysteries of the sith, outcast, academy . Pretty sure that's the order!

Edit : Beaten to it!

Dark Forces
Dark Forces 2
Mysteries of the Sith
Jedi Outcast
Jedi Academy

This is indeed the correct order.

Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast- Just this one, ignore the rest.

 The original Dark Forces is my personal favourite, but granted, it is heavily outdated by todays standards.

Recently played Dark Forces 2 (again) and bar the graphics I think it has stood the test of time very well. I still love the crashing ship level :)

I challenge you to beat the final boss in MOTS without using cheats...

Dark Forces
Dark Forces 2
Mysteries of the Sith
Jedi Outcast
Jedi Academy

This, although Dark Forces, Dark Forces 2 and Mysteries of the Sith will look incredibly dated now. Start with Jedi Outcast, then play Jedi Academy imo. Although all great games imo, wish they would bring out a new one.

DarkXL may be of interest to people who want to play Dark Forces again. Personally I find it really difficult to see whats going on with the original graphics.

Jedi Outcast was amazing. Played it through at least 2-4 times. Think I have played it in the last few years and its still epic. A bit like tron really, graphics are a bit **** but after a little while you completely forget.

Thanks for all the replies. I don't care if the graphics look dated, I still playthrough and consider Deus Ex to be the best game of all time and it looks terrible by todays standards.

Will be giving these a bash over the next week, if I can tear myself away from ME2

It was a great game........... at the time.

I defy anyone to sit through them now.

I played Dark Forces a few months ago, and recently completed Ultimate Doom and now playing Doom 2. Really enjoyed them all. More so than many of todays FPS's

This is a better site to keep up with whats happening with DarkXL. Looks like beta is on the way soon. Have been looking forward to this for a long time :D

You still cannot beat the awesome and cheesey live-action cutscenes in Dark Forces II though.

Even if the Dark Forces games are old, it really is a must if you are a huge Star Wars fan and want to understand how Kyle Katarn came to be the Jedi he is today from Dark Forces II.

If you think that Deus Ex looks "terrible" then you could be in for a shock when it comes to the early Dark Forces games - Deus Ex is vastly superior in the graphics (and gameplay/story for that matter) department.

Yeah, JO and JA won't hurt the eyes too much (I'm not disregarding the first three, but the visuals are quite dated).

Outcast is the best singleplayer for me, but academy has the best sabering system - I don't think anything recent years has come close to matching that (please tell me if there is a game with better mechanics).

If you're into team objective based multiplayer, you might want to look at moviebattles II mod for academy, which is absolutely fantastic. It's been updated over many years (I only started in b17), so is quite well balanced.
