Has anyone else used them to buy gear online? I ordered a flashgun on Monday before their next day delivery cut off and am still waiting for it. I rang them when I got home last night at about 5.20pm I was on hold only for a short while but the person I spoke to was unhelpful and quite frankly sounded like they didn't want to be there. Which became immediately apparent when they put the phone down on me at half past.

I wasn't exactly amused so had a quick look on their website, which said the customer service dept shuts at 5.30! I also noticed that they use Yodel as their courier, and I am yet to have a good experience with our local Yodel driver. Whilst on the site I double checked the order as I got no information from the phonecall and it was not even showing as dispatched.

I fired off an email, explaining that I was still waiting for an update and that I was unhappy with the person that hung up on me, I forgot to take a name at the start of the conversation. I also pointed out that I was not impressed by their choice of courier.

Today I recieved a single line email stating 'We will request redelivery by our courier'. So, it would seem Yodel didn't even bother turning up yesterday as there was no card and my neighbours did not see anyone. This has left me really unimpressed by Jessops.

I realise this may just have been a one off, but the two people I've had contact with just came across with a not my problem vibe. Should I look elsewhere in future for my photography shopping or are they usually better than this, bearing in mind Yodel is a big negative for me.

I've bought a few things off jessops, only due to the ease of their credit checks for finance. My first experience was woeful, with poor customer service, but the lad was honest and told me they didn't know when items came in or what stock was shipped to them until it got there (from canon). This was during the tsunami period where items were shipping in dribs and drabs. I noticed then they used that delivery company as it isn't a van that turns up here, it's a bloke in a saloon car!

I recently ordered my 100L from them and didn't have to use CS but again it was a bloke in a car dropping off the lens. While I'm not overly bothered as it arrived in one working piece with no damage/issues, it doesn't inspire confidence.

Jessops have clearly been struggling since they nearly went under. To be honest with the amount of bad reports on them I often wonder how long they'll be around.

I bought an Nikon AF-S 35mm F1.8 lens from them about a year ago for my old nikon kit and ordered in the morning expecting it to be delivered the next day but it ended up being the day after instead. I didn't have tracking info at all either which was very annoying as I had to stay in all day two days in a row to get my product.

Ah, now this I was not aware of. At least it isn't just me that has had a bad experience then. Shame really.

I ordered a camera yesterday before 5pm, it's meant to be next day delivery so should have arrived today. Has it? nope....Their website is also very dodgy, when I registered an account I got no email confirmation, when I ordered the item I also got no confirmation email or reciept, and they have no info on delivery. So frustrating as I was hoping to play with the camera through the bank holiday weekend where I had some free time scheduled.

That's the norm, sadly. Both items I had, had no tracking at all, at any point. The first purchase I made was the 60D, battery grip, spare battery and a couple of bits n pieces. It was VERY worrying considering the outlay, that I had no idea where it was. Still, it all turned out well, just the cutbacks they made were mainly in the personnel side of things, and mainly behind the scenes (after a few high street shop closures) as immediately afterwards pretty much all the complaints you see on the review site linked to them are about the tracking, response times to emails (or lack of) and poor customer service with regards to information on order status and stock levels.

I work there (although only for another month or so aha), and that's simply not true, you can check exactly when stock is due into the warehouse and if he had any remote knowledge of the store he would know the delivery days, and be able to give you the date it would be due in. That said, the company employs complete and utter idiots. It pays minimum wage (or just above, I'm on 5.31), zero commission, yet high pressure sales targets. This is why you get poor customer service; the staff are mostly teenagers who don't give a toss! I took it because I needed a job, simple as.

Jessops is *not* struggling. It's in profit.

They managed to completely **** up my purchase of a D7000 a few months back - ordered online for collection in store, given a date and reference number etc. etc.

Went to collect it - the store had no idea what I was on about, had no D7000, didn't expect to get one in for ages. Warehouse stock showed that they had sold more stock than they had etc.

Absolute shambles.

Well my order hasfinally been dispatched, on their website it says DHL-Next Day but when you click to track it goes to Yodel. Is Yodel owned by DHL or something?

^ What a friggin joke of a company, I just checked my tracking again and a new line has appeared on it:

No One To Receive Card Left (VAUXHALL SERVICE CENTRE) 25th Aug 2012 05:30
Out for delivery (VAUXHALL SERVICE CENTRE) 25th Aug 2012 05:00

You know what is worse, the fact that I was actually awake from 5am in the morning! No door knock, no letterbox knock, no card!

Is it actually a corporate policy to be this ****? or is it lazy lying individual drivers? If its the drivers then I'm going to swear at them if they come to deliver it again.

It's the drivers. I actually had mine delivered to the GFs work and it was some guy in a wrecked vectra that delivered it apparently.

^ Seriously? WTF how can such a shambolic company be in operation, worst still have massive contracts with some of the biggest retail chains?!

Anyone know how I can actually receive my parcel? Going to their depot is going to be next to impossible and cost me money!

Just because a company is in profit it doesn't mean it isn't struggling (there are other issues too). It would have a lot better of a reputation if it was doing well. They made large cuts and closures across the company, and that's why they're in profit. If a company has poor training (or none) as you seem to indicate with your comments on staff that don't give a toss, this will be the case. They don't spend the money needed on customer service, etc, they'll have more to wave around to look like they're doing well.

It's nothing new in the business world. Make things look positive with profit reports and manipulated stats, keep investors or group leaders happy.

Things can easily change, and quickly if enough bad reports are out there. They would do vastly more business if they lowered their prices to match others (again, I only use them when buying on finance, as they don't insist on passports, etc, they just check your credit rating), but they don't and have one of the worst customer services around at the moment. Seriously, what sort of company doesn't tell you where your items that are worth hundreds or thousands of pounds are?

If they invested some of their profit you say they have, into CS and support, that in itself would generate more income as they'd gain in reputation. This is why I say it won't be long before they go under. Any company that constantly messes up the customer facing area of their business is a very poor company.

My order has completely dissappeared, tracking info no longer works and shows up as non-existent.

Whats the best way to get my money back? Not very confident reading about Jessops CS on this thread. :(

Word of warning to anyone thinking of buying from Jessops. Just don't order anything from there at all!

Daft as it sounds, I'd wait. That's what happened to my 60D order. It fell off their system once it'd been collected by the delivery company. Give it until the day of your expected delivery date, and if you've still heard nothing contact them. I actually got an email saying it was being delivered on the day. Sadly it was after it had actually been delivered :D

It could be worse. I used an almost unheard of company to buy my Sigma 50mm 1.4 and only found positive reports. It was only when I started getting BS'd by them that I searched again and found some appalling reports on them. The only good thing about Jessops is that the items I order arrive, and undamaged.

Yodel bought DHLs 'consumer' sector I think

i work for DHL and i did think we would sell anything off lol
were always buying others.
what does happen though is dhl etc out source work to others if they don't have delivery's in that area.
every night we get lots of parcels from UPS,royal mail,TNT etc so we all use each other to get stuff to were it needs to go

Well, Yodel reckon they bought it anyway:

That's why Home Delivery Network Limited, one of the UK's leading B2C providers, purchased the domestic B2B and B2C business of DHL Express (UK) Limited through its subsidiary company Parcelpoint Limited.

The new corporate identity for Home Delivery Network and Parcelpoint is Yodel; a new business with expertise in both B2B and B2C, with the scale, efficiency and ability to shake up the whole market.

Well you were right it eventually arrived in one piece after contacting them. Left Jessops some feedback though about Yodel, not that they will care...
