Do any of you own a jet wash that you clean your bike with?

If so which one? Been looking at buying a karcher as it will be much easier having my own than going to the garage to get it done.

Any recommendations?

Is it totally safe to use one also?

Thanks

Bought a Stihl unit last year, very good machine. They are not the cheapest though.
Nilfisk seem to good reviews and can be had for a good price.

Jet washing can be very bad for bikes if your aim is less than stellar. Watch out as it can force water into normally water-tight block connectors, airbox, exhaust, light casings etc.

I wouldn't jet wash a normal road bike tbh. A dirt bike I would though as its the easiest method to remove mud etc.

If you really must do it then do it from a fair distance away

As said - can be VERY bad for bikes.

It ends up cleaning all the grease out of places which need the grease if you aren't careful like the wheel bearings, gearbox/sprocket bearings and head bearings.

Wash it - easier, safer and you can spot if anything needs doing easier by the feel that somethings not right - you lose that is you're lazy.

Also can take the laquer and stickers off the paintwork if you are really not careful/stupid! lol

I had bearings collapse after jet washing. I also had a problem where water had gotten into the bore somehow and knackered the spark plugs so it wouldn't start.

Just use a bucket and a sponge, honestly.

just stay well away from the radiator!!!! it will mangle the cooling fins,

apart from that they work fine,im using dirt cheap one £40

The only time I ever use a jet wash on the bike is from a distance and on fine mist mode, and then just to rinse it off after a bucket and sponge clean.

Mate of mine washed his VFR at work using our jet washer. Unfortunately something that is normally used for washing Volvo fire appliances didn't lend itself too well to washing the Honda. Careless aim and a little stupidity mixed in resulted in a clean cut right through the rear brake line.

thanks for the comments. I only ask because its ridiculously hard trying to reach into small spaces!!

looks like i might have to tough it out and dig in eh!
