Guys, im at that awful question:

'Please explain why you wish to work for XXXX (company)'

I have not got a clue how to go about answering it. I thought that drawing on some information about the company such as their latest projects and/or achievements would be good?

But has anyone got any good pointers for me here?

thanks

See if you can find the company mission statement and say you believe their values are in line with yours etc.

Or don't lie and say there is no particular reason, but you still believe you can do the job better than anyone else (why etc).

The second bit could still be a lie though :D

If the job has a job description and/or a job specification then I would definitely say that you need to address the contents of this/these and ensure that you have covered as many of the points as possible.

Sell your good points and their relevance to the role. Don't be too cocky or over the top, show your desire to learn and don't be afraid to compare skills and qualities in your private life/experiences to ones in the role.

How are we supposed to know why you want to work for a company? Who is this app for and we may be able to adivise a bit more once we know what they do and who they are etc?

Its for SGN - Scotia Gas or Southern Gas networks. All the names are pretty much the same company.

The role is for a graduate trainee - so far ive talked about their corporate ethics, sustainability policy and the desire to be part of a progressing and secure company.

'Please explain what you think we want to hear in answer to the question...'
Why did you apply for that job, anyway? I mean, for some jobs, like flipping burgers, it's less relevant than for a CCTV operator's job, where you don't want to be saying 'because I am a nosey parker'.
