Hi
I'm currently applying for a work placement and need help in the application.

They are asking:
Please detail post of responsibility, state whether at School/College, University or elsewhere?

What do they mean by this?

what have you been responsible for in your life?
have you been the prefect at school or anything? helped run a tuck shop - ya know that kind of thing.

is this uni work placement? have you ever had a job?

Did you sit on a committee for anything or hold any positions of responsibility? E.g.

Student food committee representative
University of Somewhere 09-10
Responsible for liaising with staff on behalf of students to improve food in canteen.

That kind of thing

This is a relatively easy one... Ownership is the hardest and that's not really hard....

So yeah, anything where you've been responsible for something.... Be it, sorting out rent as a uni group, running an event.

Things where you are responsible for something and you organised, created and claimed responsibility for it.

Yeah this is for a uni placement.

Thanks for the replies.
So it's just things that I'm responsible for at uni, college or anywhere else like what I am responsible for at work. Is this correct?

i assume the quote in the op is a sub question of a more detailed question(s) or the end of a more informative sentence/question?

Chances are its a question on its own.

I'm guessing OP is applying for internships/ graduate jobs.

They often ask you basic questions, such as why do you want to work for X doing qualification X etc..

However along side that they'll have some questions which they deem to be competency based questions. Where you've shown skills that the company are looking for. This presumably will be their question where they want you to show responsibility. Other examples that I've experienced recently are:
Business incite
Leadership
Ownership
Motivation
Innovation

And literally these questions are often as basic as, 'tell me when you demonstrated leadership in a task'

I'm currently in my second year of uni and applying for an undergraduate job.

They have already asked me about my qualifications and previous jobs. The part about competency questions is correct and it comes after the question in my first post and doesn't seem to be related to any other questions.

Easiest way to blag this is to say you were elected a project leader from one of your uni projects. If you haven't had a job or other positions of responsibility in the past.

Yeah exactly the same situation. Basically. Second year applying for summer internships.

Won't be related to other questions, but you can use work experience if you wish as an example - if it shows said skill obviously...

As said already, these competency based questions are fairly standard. Get used to them. If you're applying to a few places you'll have quite a few of these to fill out.

Been looking at a few applications and they had similar questions to each other and the examples a lecturer gave me. They were mostly about collecting data and presenting them or how I made an improvement.

I'll probably say something about work.

Thank you all for your replies.
